  1. I think the effect so far of k2 supplementation is increased enthusiasm and strength that lasts a few hours. Early observation tho.
  2. drugs are a bit like some nice stranger you meet that you think is amazing. Until they say 'niggers are a bit of a problem arent they?'. Suddenly everything else amazing they said has the shine taken off it.
  3. never got into gingko, but someone on here swears by it. I buy a big bag of mangesium hydroxide powder off ebay and take a teaspoon or so with meals. I mix it with some acid (malic usually, some say it is good with magnesium for other reasons too) so it isnt as laxative and dissolves better.
  4. i bought some choline powder and took spoonfuls of it but didnt notice much effect - maybe it needs to be taken consistently for a while? Or maybe i get enough choline from diet. I get most benefit from things that affect calcium or glutathione: so far i like acetyl cysteine, magnesium, high dose vitamin d, and i am currently (following a tip-off from this forum) trying vitamin k2 with promising results (seems to boost mood and clarity but early days).
  5. another related page from the same site: http://www.westonaprice.org/mentalemotional-health/nutrition-and-mental-development
  6. choline supplementation may help build a robust nervous system during fetal development according to this (not checked credentials, just came across while googling about): http://www.westonaprice.org/childrens-health/vitamins-for-fetal-development-conception-to-birth
  7. bread seems to drain me of any will - i just cant be bothered to do anything properly for a couple of hours after a couple of slices. Does that mean i'm gluten intolerant? Unexpected thing i've noticed is that since i have been watching what i eat (maybe last 2 years or less) and taking supps my skin seems to have started to age quite rapidly. Tho that may just be cos it becomes noticeable at my age anyway (34) or due to UVA skin damage from working outside for the last 10+ years, or due to some inflammatory problem that necessitates me taking these supps in the first place, or just cos i am more aware of what i do to my body and how it reacts (or maybe crows feet from giggling like an imbecile from taking too many drugs!). Also maybe cos of more animal protein = more methionine, which, despite being antioxidant and an essential amino acid, seems to slow ageing if restricted.
  8. if you can get it you could try flunarazine, which is a migrane med that some people have found good for hppd.
  9. also get more omega 3 and k2 while reducing omega 6 by eating grass fed meat and dairy (ie organic or free-range and stuff from places with longer grass growing seasons like ireland and especially new zealand.) The ethical implications of eating intensive farming is not just limited to the treatment of the animals you eat, but also their feed - the soya and grain agri-industrial complex is pretty sinister. Pasture also has a much lower carbon footprint.
  10. visual- maybe its cos omega 3 is less stable so excessive amounts will oxidise, so that makes sense that rancid omega 3 will be inflammatory. I think the ideal ratio of omega 3 and 6 is 1:1 or 2 (typical western diet is muuuuuuuch heavier on 6)
  11. vit d, mg, nac and k2 also all affect glutathione, low levels of which are implicated in mental probs
  12. It seems the main active ingredient in skate oil may be vitamin k2, which can be more cheaply obtained on its own, or from grass fed animal foods. I have obtained some benefit from nac, vitamin d3 as well as magnesium, all of which affect calcium metabolism in different ways (tho i do not know if or how much this aspect is relevant to the effect i obtain form them). K2 also affects calcium metabolism, so i have bought some off ebay to see if anything happens (100 caps of 100micrograms for about £10). I take fish oil tho have no obvious effect from it. Visual - any references on it being pro-inflammatory, as my impression is that it is consistently anti-inflammatory? Also, fishoil has long chain omega 3, veg omega 3 is generally short chain (havent checked mustard in particular tho).
  13. just thinkin that if hppd is some sort of traumatic imprinting (psychological and/or epigenetic), then maybe some deeply relaxing experience like meditiation, deep massage or sensory deprivation may get you into a state where these imprints can begin to loosen. Problem with meditation is that it is hard to get right and takes a long time, whereas a more aggressive relaxation like sensory deprivation may get better results. The unpleasant effects that some people describe may be such imprints that have been stored under 'too much info to conciously deal with now, store subconciously for processing later' beginning to float up for concious processing, a bit like people also describe with deep meditation.
  14. i tried acetyl carnitine once and for some reason it made me feel really depressed. Cannot figure out why this would be as usually it is described as the opposit effect
  15. undenatured whey protein has cystine in it which is potentially good due to being glutathione precursor (must be undenatured tho). Pea protein may be good or bad due to its low methionine which is an interesting amino acid (google methionine restriction). soya protein has a high estrogen content so probly bad.
  16. there seems to be a calcium connection, which may be why 5000iu of vitamin d has such a profound affect on reducing post prandial torpor for me. However, there seems to be a lot of pseudo sciencey stuff about with this. It is hard to tell if the pseuds are just early adopters of a real thing for which there is currently minimal evidence, or if it is just something they have made up. If it is real then they are probably just making it a difficult subject for scientists to investigate by citing results of eg kineseology tests. I tried st jons wort a long time ago with little effect - or perhaps even made me a bit miserable. Maybe other p-glycoprotein inducers may be useful tho?

  18. nice link, hot off the press science - keep an eye out for subsequent studies on this.
  19. the schiz tests used large doses of glycine. I bought some (v cheap stuff) and took 2 heaped tablespoons (about 50 grams). It made my vision go weird - not hppd but like i had a finger pressing on the side of my eyeball and a bit sparkly in peripheral like standing up too quickly, but more localised effect. Could have been due to ammonia spike? Wore off over couple of hours or so. Reducing to sensible doses now (a teaspoon here and there, not being scientific about it at all). Would there be much difference between glycine and sarcosine (methyl glycine) given how interchangeable they are in body chemistry?
  20. thought i'd bring this to your attention - give it a google. It makes the blood-brain barrier permeable to molecules that should be excluded. This may be the cause of my pre-hppd brain fog. Looks like gluten is aggravating, as is related to leaky gut.
  21. i agree maybe the corn test is too restrictive and needs to be more generally about inflammation. Check out the Inflammatory Factor of different foods. Grass fed meats will be less inflammatory as corn fed meat will be higher in omega 6 which is inflammatory while omega 3 is not. Other inflammatory things like vaccines, illness, stress may also be worth factoring in to consideration. See also if strongly anti inflammatory things like turmeric, msm etc have an effect.

  23. i tried gingko but didnt have much effect, tho being a skinflint i bought it as bulk leaves to have as tea, which is not very nice, so maybe i didnt giv it a good enough try. Also tried ashgawandha - not much effect but a nice night time drink (teaspoon of powder, plus teaspoon of turmeric, sweeten with stevia or xylitol, add milk or cream, mmmm.) Tried another herb which is quite nice but no effect, cant remember its name, think it is a bark, used to kill candida, tastes a bit licoricey but milder, red colour. Gotu kola - no effect, siberian ginseng - no effect. I remember as a teenager when the brain fog started (pre hppd) i went to a herbalist who gave me some concoction that did bugger all but made me smell of meat.
  24. nah, not toxic, tho is an environmental pollutant.
