  1. Sorry mentalpioneer, I was off on what you're going through. It's cool you don't let hppd limit you. Have to get ready for work but just didn't want to sound like a jerk, good luck!!
  2. ''As of now my symptoms aren't limiting me in any way (except for a small visual and mental limitations)'' I would of never started taking any meds if I fealt this way. Consider yourself lucky that you don't have full blown hppd. Pls stay away from klonopin or any benzo, I only take these cause I can't live w/o them. You have no idea what kind of problems they can produce in the future when it's time to kick them. And if you're thinking you can just take them as needed, you better be strong willed because they will wipe out anxiety and relax you... extremely addictive. I"m not trying to say you have it easy, just know if you can go w/o meds I'd do it. I really don't know anything about keppra so I can't give any advice on that, but if you still feel like your former self no dp/dr. I wouldn't take it but I obviously don't know all your symptoms. Again I"m not trying to say you aren't suffering, but just from that quote I think you're doing good!
  3. It's the same chemical in turkey that makes you feel relaxed after eating. It does work well for me even in the pill form, I'll feel relaxed and a little drowsy, but I like that feeling rather then being anxious.
  4. Been yrs since I tried this stuff and it just made me anxious from cleansing. Going to try it again in next couple days 600mg you said, I hate taking it at night (want to sleep) I'll try it in the morning. I take depakote and klonopin, I need to read up and make sure it doesn't wipe those med's out of my system. I'm hungover and have to go to work, wish I had some of this now
  5. that stuff did nothing for me. Glad it's helping you guys, I think my hppd is worse because I had anxiety disorder before I even got hppd?? GL
  6. mbellamy, I would completely stabalize on your klono before you make any decisions. You don't want to shock your CNS again. But if you can get off klono once you stabalize def do it. You don't want to need such a potent drug to survive trust me. Just make sure you titrate this time, you should only be going down 10% of your dosage every 2 weeks. Switching to Valium would be much easier but a lot of doc's don't like giving it out. Look up klonopin titration on youtube it's rather easy just time comsuming!
  7. Alcohol works very similiar to benzo's on the brain. You can't use it as an aid in benzo w/d's it just doesn't work. I've tried and read about hundreds of others who had the same problem. Alcohol will cause much worse w/d's and isn't supposed to be used till your gabba receptors are working normally again (usually 4 months after complete w/d). Just check out benzobuddies.org or any benzo w/d site for that matter. I wish this wasn't the case because I was going to drink like a mad man till I got lower on my dosage and figured this out the hard way. GL! Only things I found that help are exercise, strong muscle relaxers and melatonin for sleep. Any Z drug shouldn't be taken during benzo w/d's.
  8. You won't get perm damage it's a only a 15% chance, and most of those cases are from long term users like 10-20 yrs taking high doses. Dr. Ashton says even when she comes accross ppl with persisting problems, they eventually get almost all the way better and were able to cope with there problems so don't worry about it. Def, don't up your dosage though, just don't go higher then 2 mg and you'll be fine. Trust me I've been tapering and reading about benzo's constantly for the last yr. You'll be fine!
  9. thx i'll def mention Sinemet, wellbutrin just didn't work for me, although I didn't give it much time
  10. Shaolin, that makes complete sense about why your headaches are so bad of late, everytime I got on a low dosage (klono) even a while back...the headaches were insane for a while, I'm hoping that's just a side effect cause I'm going to have to come off benzo's when complete tolerance takes over one day. That's the day I dread, I'll probably have to go inpatient so I don't do anything to crazy! Just reread that, you went CT and didn't suffer to much withdrawals. That's almost unheard of, but I guess the ppl that don't suffer wouldn't go around posting on benzo boards
  11. those were just tramadol, i get 60 every two weeks. If they were hydro i would of just sold them lol. Soma and Zanaflex work good for my headaches w/o the addiction that comes w/ opiates. I could get prescribed vicodin daily, but I'm just not ready to go down that road again till life is unbearable good to see you around you must of beat that misdameanor or felony like two yrs ago, I figured you had to go away for a while like me when I got 6 months for a dui later!
  12. Working is much easier to me then having to remember text book information. That makes my headpressure so much worse, I couldn't handle college unless klonopin stopped effecting my memory and I took ritalin to pay attention. You might feel bad, but once you graduate hopefully you can find a job you enjoy. I've always like work I can move around and not stuck in a cubicle, feel better!
  13. Nothing to worry about at all. I've been under 3 x's and I've been on a high doses of klonopin everytime on top of what they knock you out with. Every time I woke up I loved it, cause whatever they used to knock me out wiped hppd anxiety away for hrs after. They will give you percocet or vicodin for pain after surgery. Then shortly after you'll start physical therapy and that's the only hard part about all this. But the good thing about physical therapy is you don't focus on hppd only your knee. Plus it forces you to work out daily. Can't tell you how many thousands of hrs I've done physical therapy, if I went to school could teach it lol. You'll only truly need your pain killers the first 3 days after surgery. Make sure you save enough for after your P.T. sessions cause you'll be hella sore. Try not to get addicted to them easier said then done but you'll realize how they make you not care about hppd. \ Good luck I most likely have to have knee surgery in a while for a torn miniscus but I don't have the money yet for the surgery, Later!
  14. boogres, that tension you get in your neck, body aches, muscle spasms and chronic headaches are just a few of the symptoms not to many ppl complain about but destroy my quality of life. I have to exercise everyday to alleviate some of the tension or my body feels like a rubber band getting tighter ready to snap!!
  15. I feel like that w/o Keppra lol. I'm doing good just exercising lately, plus I got a job... man that sure helps in making you forget about hppd love it! Crazy how meds effect everybody so different but klono is still golden to me!
  16. ''Anyway, it will be around 4 - 6 weeks for my appointment so I shouldn't really write the neurologist off before even meeting it, I will keep hopeful and waiting....'' Timer, I would schedule a few appointments weeks apart just incase you don't like the first doc. As long as you cancel 24 hrs. in advance (or ask about their cancelation policy) They can't charge you and you'll have back up Dr's. Hppd is def something worth taking your time to find the most helpful and sympathetic Dr's. I've actually had a few of my best Doc's wind up being G.P. GL!
  17. Need to talk to my doc about keppra next visit. I'm on depakote already for bipolar, but I need anything that would allow me to focus more while working. There are so many jobs I should be able to hold down but simply can't from dp/dr. Thx!
  18. I don't care if doctors believe me or not cause I know it's there, and they won't see anything on most scans. I've just known what med's could help and hurt over the last 10 yrs. and just tell them I have extreme panic anxiety disorder and insomnia. I wind up with the same med's they would of treated me with for hppd. I never wanted to try keppra I have enough rage without going through that side effect lol. It's hard enough for doctors to find a nerve that's making my leg numb everyday, how the hell are they going to find or even do anything about hppd. GL!
  19. Not sure what to tell you except I wouldn't up your benzo dose. Just keep yourself occupied and eventually things will return to normal. I know it's easier said then done, but you will slowly get back to how you fealt prior to this. The more you think about it the worse you'll feel. Take care!
  20. Thx Merkan, I usually find that the ppl who wind up with the most problems are those who don't taper correctly and shock their cns. The better the taper plan whether you dry cut small doses or titrate, seems to be the key to a successful withdrawal. Most long term peeps like me would take about 2 yrs. to completely get off the pills and then show improvements after 3 to 6 months. Although it usually takes atleast 1 yr. for full recovery, sometimes up to 3. People usually talk about taking it day by day, and exercise being the key in helping them recover.
  21. Jay, there's only a 15% chance of longterm users that don't return completely to normal according to Dr. Ashton. The rest of them still get better but it's a long process. If you have any evidence to back that up pls post the website. I really need to take a look at myself if that's the case. But I'm almost positive it's not. Hope all is well later!
  22. go to the chat room on benzobuddies.org so many ppl can relate to what hellish benzo w/d's are like. Even w/o hppd these ppl go crazy, force yourself to exercise a bit and just take hot showers to help w/ muscle spasms (bananas work great). You have to push yourself to have a positive attitude or you'll be your own worse enemy. I'm surprised you're not feeling better already, you will shortly....also when you do go through benzo w/d's it will be hard but not nearly as hard as your current Dr. made it!
  23. you'll be alright again soon! Next time your idiot Dr. tells you to w/d off your klonopin, print out and show him the ashton manual!!
  24. Headpressure is my worse symptom as well. The way you explained it is exactly how I experience it. It sucks, the only reliefs I've found for it is exercise (cardio) works wonders. Maybe not the second after you get done exercising but about ten min. later I'm able to relax and it will go away for 3 to 4 hrs. I have to exercise daily due to this symtom, but It keeps me in shape and healthy atleast. Also if you take a warm shower that will sometimes help quit a bit. My headpressure usually gets the worse when my anxiety is high or I'm concentrating on something for a long time. Muscle relaxers work great for me, I actually take zanaflex everyday when my headpressure occurs and it usually goes away. Soma works the best as far as muscle relaxers go. Also after I take my klonopin it goes away for a couple hrs. I usually wake up everyday w/ crazy headressure headaches, I think it's from staying still so long while I'm asleep. But again that's when I take my klonopin in the morning and it goes away. Coffee actually takes it away to, but I can only drink caffeine because I'm on benzo's so my anxiety doesnt get to crazy. Pain killers are addicting as hell but they wipe my headpressure str8 out. I actually got very addicted to them before and now I have to be careful with them. I actually just flushed 40 pain killers down the toiled a few hrs. ago cause I didn't feel like having w/d's once I was finished w/ them. Sad but only way I can go w/o abusing them. If you can get a doc to prescribe you muscle relaxers ask for Soma first and if they won't prescribe that try Zanaflex. It works on tension headaches and migraines as well and isn't addicting (maybe a tiny bit not much) Alright if any of this didn't make sense it's cause my doc gave me those pain killers today so I'm kinda messed up lol, I'm proud of myself for throwing the rest of them away though lol/ later!!
