  1. please stay us updated how keppra works for you.
  2. yeah could be hard sometimes exspecially in the first few month. what are your exact symptoms because it seems that an dopamine agonist like sinemet in germany carbidopa could help some like negative afterimages but you should read Visuals threads he is smarter in this medication topic... i avoid speeking german because everybody could find something helpful in every thread but if you need to talk in german youcould PM me^^
  3. hmm i would say yes but i have always one symptom which makes my angry mostly^^ this is the worst at this time then there is another one and so on.i think it has alot do to with mind about symptoms if you keep yourself busy and dont think about them they are alot better (in my case)
  4. haha i even cant watch it because the gema (Society for musical performing and mechanical reproduction rights) has closed it for germany because of the music^^
  5. hey welcome to the forum! my story is similar to yours, you can find it here: http://hppdonline.co...le-bit-unusual/ only i took every drug on this planet but am clean since the beginning of 2008. i was a heavy weed smoker for 11 years and had after afew psychodelic trips only slight visuals then after 3 yaers(sep 2011) i was in a stressful period took antibiotics and was still smoking weed and baaam a whole bunch of symptoms kicked in. if you were a really heavy weed smoker it could take time to reset your brain. i read it could take 1 year or longer so i think thats why your symptoms are worsening. but i think this will seatle down soon and your recovery can start. my symptoms got better since i stopped weed in oct 2011, but they can spike if i have a bad day or something.... also i think your brain needs rest so maybe stay away of medicine for a while. if your symptoms are to overhelming try keppra or sinemet if these dont work flunarizine could be worth a try but stay away of benzos as long as possible.. i am drug free and wont try drugs yet because i can lhandle it atm... take care
  6. i go to gym since november 2011. i am doing a holistic 2er split/4 times a week. started at 76kg/152lbs now i am weighing 82kg/164lbs my only supp is a whey shake and an a high protein diet.
  7. hmm that could fit the theory that DP/DR is one of the most comorbid diseases of anxiety because caffeine could trigger anxiety and stress/restlessness
  8. i will get an "eye of Horus" not this one but similar. would imagine it in psychodelic colors^^
  9. hmm as for smoking and sports i dont know i think that smoking is not good at all also the problem is dopamine and serotonin increase both but i noticed since i cut out cardio and only do wight lifting my visuals arent really worse after the work out only wen i am doing strengh-endurance my visuals seem to spike for an hour after sports if i smoke a few cigaretts after the workout they are back to baseline dont know if the nicotine has an effect or if they would return to baseline in the same time without smoking. and yes exercise is IMO one of the most important parts of the recovery. there are assumptions that sports has a long term effect on your brain. but this is an other chapter too late today to write it down^^ also sports with a danger(bungee, motorsports and so on) seem to be more effective on dopamine than serotonin.
  10. my visuals are decreasing i wrote something about the effect of nicotine in the "impacts of sports" thread dont want to write it again^^
  11. could these, red dots you are seeing, be a form of phosphenes? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phosphene like pressing on your eye?
  12. kk so thats only my theorie and i dont promise that i am correct. as we know SSRIs and others antidepressants are able to make HPPD worse.(high serotonin =bad choice) also people report that dopamine agonists are decreasing their visuals. (high dopamin= good choice) furthermore there are case reports of Calcium-channel-blockers(Flunarizine) helping visuals they have an indirect effect on serotonin, too. now a observation me and some others have made is that smoking cigaretts could decrease your visuals for a short time. but has no effect on others (dont want you starting smoking this is not proven!!) if you smoke a cigarette the artifically attached sugar burns and releases acetaldehyde. Acetaldehyde reduces the enzyme MAO-B. MAO-B reduces dopamine and serotonin in your brain. accordingly more dopamine and serotonin. furthermore nicotine let your acetycholine receptors react because its very similar to acetycholine. now i mentioned the main effects this would lead far if you are interrested in these effects you can read it up..... Now the effects of sport on your brain:(they are not completly claried yet, but there are a few studies which give us an insight) i will share my theory now but this is only a slight insight, if you are interessted read it up for further informations. studies with treadmill rats has shown that the concentration of the neurotransmitters Dopamine, Serotonin and noradrenalin significantly increases while sports and after the exercises returned to baseline. other studies in rats has shown the long term effects of sports on the neurotransmitters concentration with the result: regular exercise laeds to a reduced basalactivity, while the sensitivity of an acute "load charming" retained. (Meeusen 2001) there are assumptions that diffrent kind of sports has diffrent impacts on the brain chemestry(note: you cant test it in an human brain) source: http://www.clairedorotik.com/NLWC-EXERCISE_AND_MOOD.htm or you can read it here: http://www.livestrong.com/article/424692-can-exercise-increase-serotonin-levels/ the same for dopamine: http://www.livestrong.com/article/532699-dopamine-sports/ but notice there is no increase in dopamine without an increase in serotonin too. So if you do a hard exercise unit there will be the point where your body gets exhausted a major role in this central nervous fatigue plays acetylcholine whichis important for your muscle to work here is a good link: http://www.nismat.org/physcor/muscle.html IMO this is while the most people notice a decrease in visuals while sports maybe the same effect cigarretts coul have. but there is also a point when serotonin plays a role in the central nervous fatigue: source: http://cat.inist.fr/?aModele=afficheN&cpsidt=2534413 note this is also only a possibility and not completly occupied!! there are a lot more impacts sports has on your brain like it is supposed to help your brain plasticity grow and others also the whole mechanisms i mentioned above are alot more complex and you can find a lot of interesting books about it on googlebooks for example. its only a theory and you could read about it if you are interrested. also i have a few problems with my "schoolenglish" explaining the scientific operations..... maybe i will write alittle bit more in a few days...
  13. i would tell my parents about the visual disturbances but i think you dont have to say that they are drug related. maybe drugs are only a trigger for HPPD and its gene related or whatever, another trigger could be Migraines for example. who knows for sure maybe we would got these disturbances without ever taking drugs like a lot of other people.
  14. i always had lucid dreams even pre HPPD(i am able to wake up if i have bad dreams). you can learn to have lucid dreams maybe this could help a better handling.
  15. your body and mind produces serotonin to get you awake. serotonin needs light to be produced. i noticed when i wake up in the dark my visuals are less noticeable than awekening in daylight.
  16. beeing out in the dark is really hard sometimes. was on a festival afew weeks ago in the night time there were only flares and campfire, this was really trippy because of the trails and afterimages, but it doesnt bothered me much i often took psychodelics outside in the nighttime was a little bit like an acid trip. i live in a big city here is always light in the night so this isnt a big problem. but i wouldnt recomend to stay away from going out in the dark because you will better learn to cope things which are fimilar to you.
  17. i am clubbing every week but only drink 3-5 beers mostly punched with coke. no increase in visuals. was partying yesterday came back at 5 am slightly increased visuals but after sleeping till 3 pm they are back to baseline. today i will go out again. but i would not drink too much, i always go by car so i cant drink more than a few beers. here in germany this is legal^^
  18. this is a good point, some of my first experiences with the visuals was shifting my eyes helps me not seeing snow and resets POSITIVE afterimages. but as you mentioned in the retina thread negative afterimages seems to extend longer while blinking. another point is i noticed how longer i look at something means less afterimaegs my afterimages are worse while looking at something for a second and then away.
  19. i imagine that magnesium helps with visuals is because it is an calcium channel blocker and so has indirect impacts on serotonin same like flunarazine only my assumption. as for potassium i would not recommend taking it over a long period, because it has impacts on your heart. i had to take after a strong diarrhea because of a lack but i had to control my blood two times a week. but this was medical potassium maybe these supps arent so strong
  20. hehe no iam from west germany(ruhrgebiet)^^
  21. i have done a project while my vocational training about sports and mental health. because of this i have a theory about the impacts of sports on HPPD, i will explain it later because i dont want to influence the poll. if you cant wait i will give you a hint. its about the role of neurotransmitters while doing sports.
  22. i think there are alot of worse drugs than lsd today. when dr abraham started his research there were mostly natural hallucinogens, i think DXM for example can lead to PTSD alot faster than LSD. never had so crazy trips like on this shit.
  23. visual do you have anxiety because of your visual symptoms? i would guess you dont?! one thing these HPPD taught me is: Knowledge is Power!! my symptoms freaked me out for the first maybe two weeks then i begun starting resaerching alot and the anxiety was gone completly. i imagine its very hard for people to trust helpless doctors. if you are completly lost in your symptoms not a bit knowing whats going on, the base for depression and anxiety is founded. i always was interested in neurobiology and chemestry. also it is part of my job. i am working in a psychiatry. if there is one good thing in this HPPD stuff(maybe only for me) i learned alot more about the brain and its functions. which is also helpful for my job.
  24. i cant say who bad my snow is on these simmulators. because its changing in the course of the day. also my snow seems not be directly infront of my eyes, i see it mostly on walls in a distance if i go close enough it diminishes. also not the whole wall is covered its like on the second picture here: http://www.migraine-aura.org/content/e27891/e27265/e42285/e42442/e42444/e42534/e42546/index_en.html but not white it is transparent.
