  1. Well, those sound HPPD-like, at least, but it would all depend on the severity. I mean, everybody has after-images to some degree (healthy persons included). BFEP is also completely natural. That being said, it does sound like mild HPPD to me. The fact that your symptoms are only seen in certain lighting and that they are strongly anxiety dependent does muddle the picture somewhat. I think that everybody sees colours and patterns in the dark. I know that I always did, long before using drugs. If you hyper-focus on that it can become quite pronounced. My conclusion would be; It may be HPPD, but in that case it is mild. It sounds like anxiety is your biggest problem!
  2. No worries, I can be a bit cranky like that in the morning. However, I am going to reply to this thread.
  3. I think most people are less likely to reply when you keep reposting your thread, killing any discussion that was already going on. I'd think that most of the regulars just use the "New Content" feature, so it doesn't matter much where you put it. You're basically spamming.
  4. This is the third time you've posted the same thread. Why?! Your first thread even got replies
  5. It was gradual. I first noticed the symptoms 3-4 years ago. Personally I would advice against it. While my trips have been enjoyable and memorable, they were by no means worth it. In short; stop taking psychedelics. It's simply not worth it. No question about it. Here is the definition of HPPD in the DSM-V if you're interested. It is by no means definitive or exhaustive, but it's a starting point. http://hppdonline.com/index.php?/files/file/72-%7B?%7D/
  6. File Name: DSM-V HPPD Description File Submitter: StateOfRegret File Submitted: 18 Feb 2014 File Category: Publications The description of HPPD as given in fifth incarnation of The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. Click here to download this file
  7. I assume you're asking if some people are more susceptible to HPPD than others? The answer would be "it seems to be the case". The DSM-V states that it is believed that some people are genetically predisposed to develop HPPD.
  8. That sounds like mild HPPD. I remember having symptoms similar to those you describe years ago. I ignored them and continued to do psychedelics (and lots of them ) and it developed into the full-blown variety. My advice would be to stay clear of psychedelics for the future, since you're probably susceptible to HPPD. Many people get HPPD after a single trip (or a few), but you may have the "slowly developing variety", like I do. I tripped 100s of times on LSD, psilocin, 4-HO-MET, 4-HO-MiPT, 2C-C, 2C-E, 2C-B, aMT, 25C-NBOMe (to name a few) before it got to this level.
  9. Sorry, haven't read the whole thing, but; 53 years? Dont you mean 43? You said that you are almost 60 years old, and that you were tripping in 1970. That would be approximately 43 years ago.
  10. That sounds very, very interesting. Can you provide any links with general information? I'm trying to determine if something like that exists in my country.
  11. Hi Solveig, thank you for taking the time to read my story :-) I've read about the compulsion to smoke in people with schizophrenia - I remember reading that some 80% of schizophrenics smoke. All in all, I don't think that HPPD has very much in common with schizophrenia, however. To answer your question; I live in Denmark, Copenhagen to be more specific :-)
  12. The first one - the 'documentary' about the DSM - seems to be the work of Scientology, as far as I can see. I was watching it, my (exceptionally clever) brother walked by and remarked that it sounded Scientology-esque. It seems that Toby Burwell is one of the people behind the video, and he's a proud Scientologist.
  13. Hi mbellamy09! How are you doing? And what are you up to medication wise?
  14. It's hard to come up with an exhaustive list. However, for most people, pronounced visual distortions are present. The severity varies between individuals, of course. Often palinopsia ('after-images'), visual snow, star-bursting etc are present. Sometimes also more truly "hallucinogen-like" effects, like patterning on surfaces, stationary objects appearing to "breathe"/move, some 'morphing' of objects etc. Common "co-morbid" disorders/symptoms are depersonalization, derealization, anxiety, "brain fog" etc.
  15. Would love to help, but we really need a "ruling" as to whether this is against the board rules. I'm guessing the admins do not want this to turn into a "vendor board". Personally I find etizolam very helpful. The most clearheaded benzo workalike I've tried. As for niacinamide; there is some evidence that it may be neurotoxic at anxiolytic doses - I have lots of the stuff lying around, but I refrain from using it. Have a look here.
  16. "They both block things"? Really? I would think twice before trying antipsychotics with suspected HPPD or DP/DR.
  17. Well, I believe we have enough examples of "late recovery" to say that recovery is still very much possible, even after many years. Look at Dylan, for instance. He had HPPD for 5-6 years, and now he's basically symptom free.
  18. Well, the problem would be the illegality, I would've thought that was obvious ;-) But of course, it is all a question of cost/benefit-analysis; if you dare taking the risk of ordering drugs from outside Australia, well, good for you. (ps; I'll PM you)
  19. Ouch, you live in Australia? That makes matters worse. However much I'd like to try to help you, I think it goes against the rules of the board to guide you in obtaining controlled substances illegally...
  20. I feel that it is time for an update on my situation. In short, I'm almost back to square one. I still feel intoxicated, the dizziness is still going strong and the anxiety is as bad as ever, if not worse. My visual symptoms are mostly unchanged. I was able to cope with the symptoms well enough to finish another semester at university (4 courses) with top grades. I taught a recital class as well, which was good for my economy, of course, but the stress of it all has taken a toll on me. It came to a point where I suffered daily panic attacks and developed insomnia as well (still present). Now I've decided to take a few months break from uni, to see how much progress I'm able to make without the added stress of studying. I'm hoping I'll get to try some of the medications that others have had success with; Keppra, Sinemet, flunarizine etc. I'll make sure to keep you all posted. This board has been a great source of helpful advice for me these past months, and I hope I'll be able to give something back (perhaps via medication trials).
  21. Well, I wouldn't rule out HPPD. My HPPD developed slowly for a while. I ignored it, continued to take hallucinogens and ultimately got to where I am now; pronounced visual distortions and the rest of it.
  22. Odysseus: read up on iboga pharmacology :-) It is in fact an agonist at some opioid receptors, like salvinorin.
  23. Not sure about friends. No-one has said it out loud in that case. I honestly don't think so. If a relative of mine were to say that, I would be absolutely furious. If they do not take your predicaments seriously, I'd say that you need to give them a piece of your mind, and if that doesn't help, avoid them!
  24. No, I was surprised as well. They really are surreal. Pure unadulterated otherworldly dread!
