  1. Goddamnit man, that was truly an inspirational post ( nice Rogan clip as well ). I just wanna say thanks for coming back and sharing. Really happy for you dude, take care
  2. Binarual beats sounds really interesting and I definitely think there is some potential for "rewiring" the good ol´ brain through proper use. However, your post reminded me of what someone posted earlier, might be of interest to you http://hppdonline.com/index.php?/topic/3624-binaural-beats-help/ . Not trying to be a downer, but just thought it´d be noteworthy
  3. Wow, the internet will never cease to surprise me. Visual seems to be dropping references to contemporary gangsta rap songs on a HPPD forum. Well played. http://youtu.be/a1aZjlpvpS0?t=3m40s
  4. About 8 hours, but 6-7 is also okay. If I sleep more than 10 I´ll be pretty spaced out for a while after waking up.
  5. Good find! For what it´s worth my dreams pre- and post-hppd are very different. As of now I´m having vivid and complex, but somewhat more coherent dreams almost every night, often directly linked to whatever´s been going on in my life lately. I know thats not too uncommon for people in general to experience, but I´d say HPPD changed the way I dream (maybe the only good thing that ever came out of this mess).
  6. Thanks man. I didn´t realize what the hell was going on for the first year so I continued puffin on the herb and drinking. After a flareup I kinda knew something was way off and found out about this stuff, went stone cold sober for maybe a little over six months or so. Haven´t touched weed ever since, nor do I plan on doing so. I´ve gotten back to drinking now as I can handle the hangovers and the symptoms have stayed pretty much the same for a while now. But it´s most likely not the best of ideas if I ever wish to cure myself, so I´ve decided to kick the habit once I start my Keppra and/or Lamictal trial which should be happening pretty soon. I gotta say I admire your will to stay sober, though. You´re doing the right thing
  7. Cheers for staying in the ring with this beast for this long, keep fighting brother. 2 years of total sobriety is really impressive! My 2 year anniversary is in two-three days, so one could say july 2012 was a pretty shitty month for the two of us. Take care
  8. Wow that is really great news, happy for you man! I seriously need to do a Lamotrigine or Levetiracetam trial ASAP Edit: Hopefully somebody with some knowledge on the subject could answer this: Does it matter how much time has passed since onset? Or would the eventual results be pretty much the same, like if it works it works and if not then you´re just outta luck?
  9. Thanks for sharing your story and welcome to the community It can guarantee you that what you´re experiencing with auditory illusions is a result of hyper-vigilance and anxiety, not schizophrenia. This particular fear is pretty common among ocd and anxiety sufferers, as it includes "losing it" and lack of control does seem to frighten anxious people more than others. I also had this terrible fear of actually "going crazy" and started looking for signs to confirm my concerns. Bad idea, but this all changed after I went to this burger joint with some friends. A young man there, at my age, was sitting by himself and talking/rapping. I walked up to him and offered to pay for some pancakes or somethin. We started talking a bit and it turned out he couldn´t work because he had bi-polar disorder, autism and schizophrenia. As I walked out of the joint, the rapping/mumbling resumed. To sort of generalize this experience, imagine you´re in the woods walking. There might be a bridge somewhere, but you can´t know for sure. Wouldn´t it be better to cross the bridge when you get to it, than worrying about it when you´re not even sure you´ll ever have to cross it? Life is an uncertain project, my visual stuff might disappear as I am typing this or stay with me my whole life. As you said it yourself, acceptance of this is key and I am sure that the auditory illusions will decrease in frequency over time. good luck buddy
  10. If I could, I would´ve liked your comment Jay Random10: I´m very happy for you, but remember this experience and don´t fool around again. Now, enjoy your life buddy
  11. Been in your place man, moved halfway across the world right after it started to get outta hand. I recommend seeking professional help or something, it helped me a lot getting adjusted to both HPPD and provided some much needed support. It´ll get easier once you´ve gotten used to your new situation
  12. Hey there Your story is eerie similar to my own. Noticed some vs after a shroom trip and floaters (which I´d seen a few times as a kid) after one particular night of doing MDMA. Was like this for a year with almost daily weed smoking (no harder drugs tho) before I found out about hppd, got very anxious and started noticing a lot of stuff in my vision (increased afterimages, then ghosting, trailing, halos, starbursting etc) over the course of the next few days/months. Also went and got my eyes checked, like you the ophthalmologist acknowledged the the presence of floater but said that otherwise my eyes were in perfect condition. Its been a year now and the stuff is still there, but anxiety and stuff is better and somewhat under control. DP/DR, which I also got/noticed after reading about hppd, is also a lot better. Sorry if I´m making this about me, but too be honest I don´t really know what to tell you. The whole hyperawareness of anything in my visual field resonates strongly with me, but then again I definitely have ghosting and stuff all the time now so not sure what to think. It´s interesting, because most of the people here found out about HPPD after researching a ton of new symptoms that presented themselves immediately after doing a drug(s). My best advice for now would be to not look up even more symptoms and trying to get anxiety under control as that´s often more harming than the visual distortions themselves. Take it easy and good luck buddy, keep us updated
  13. That´s good. Did u guys discuss a strategy on how to move forward with possible medications and whatnot?
  14. hang in there bro. does drinking completely fuck ur symptoms? Personally I have few beers a couple nights a week, just to "clear my head".
  15. I´m starting to wonder whether the Iboga induced disorder of yours might be a completely different ballgame. Both you and Solveig describe symptoms not not too common with HPPD. However, not sensing limbs is one of the most classic symptoms of DP. As is the sensation of being overwhelmed when sensory input is increased. My DP is almost non existent by this point when I´m in my dorm room, but at e.g. a Dodger game it flares up. Anyways, many of these symptoms are overlapping so I really have no clue. Do you get ghosting, trailing, visual snow, increased afterimages and starbursting?
  16. Does mention HPPD (or PHPD due to using a paper from 1983 by Dr.Abraham..). Haven´t read the whole thing yet, just thought it might be of interest http://brain.oxfordjournals.org/content/137/5/1419.long
  17. Cool man, I´ll be there for about a month at the end of the year. Anyone else interested in a meet up of some kind should holla
  18. Hi all I´ve been thinking about this for a while and concluded that I´d like to meet someone with HPPD. Don´t really care if you´re a confused teenager or a 15-year veteran of this disorder, it would be nice to actually talk with a human able to understand what the hell we´re forced to deal with on a daily basis. Anyways, I´m usually traveling between these areas and also often in Scandinavia during summer. PM if you´re down to get a cup of coffee or something. Hope you´re all doing well and good luck, Laizz
  19. Hello there. I am truly sorry to hear that buddy. Responding slow is not abnormal when stress & anxiety are at its worst. You´ve been through traumatic and life changing experience(s), but your life is still very much yours. Lowering your anxiety and not freak out constantly will allow your brain to process stuff in any way you would like it to. I recommend that you seek professional help if you´re feeling like things are getting out of hand. Feel free to PM me if you wanna talk/vent/whatever. Hang in there and know that it gets better
  20. Gotdamn Syntheso, I wish someone had written that to me pre-hppd. Not sure if it would´ve changed my mind, being young and reckless and all that, but it was a beautiful answer. Btw, I got minor symptoms right after 1st trip. A couple of MDMA experiences exacerbated it. Jay: I thought he got it from binging on E every weekend or so?
  21. Yh I went to coachella last week and been drunk for about a week now. No impact on visuals, no hangover, no anxiety. Count my blessings, I might stay drunk for the rest of my days Bukowski style.
  22. Iknow theres probably loads of studies on this, but found an AMA on reddit today which might be interesting. In class right now so can´t elaborate any more, just wanted to share this http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/comments/236o6g/im_a_veteran_who_overcame_treatmentresistant_ptsd/
  23. Wow, that´s really great to hear Rene! Seems like things are looking up for you and stories like this provides hope for the rest of us. Have you ever stopped taking the medication for some time, and if so, have this brought symptoms back or are there some permanent benefits?
  24. No problem! I´m currently taking 50 mg/day, started off at 25 mg for about 5-6 days then increased the dose. The exacerbation of visual symptoms happened during these first days, but there wasn´t really any difference when going up to 50 mg. I do feel very weird whenever I forget to take the medication (dizziness, buzzing sensation) and have a harder time falling asleep in general. But again, as long as the visuals doesn´t drastically flare up Im sticking with this for now, until I can get a Keppra trial.
  25. This is where things get a little tricky. I also remember noticing static in dark rooms as a kid when looking really hard. Floaters from time to time as well, along with BFEP. I mean who hasn´t seen light trails from sparklers at New Years etc. Increased awareness of floaters and static were the first signs of HPPD for me, something I ignored for a long time. So even if this might be attributed to some form of hyperawareness, I´d advise you to thread really lightly.
