its been 2 months now and iv noticed vast improvement in visuals and anxiety, and DR DP. all im left with is tinnitus, visual snow thats ok but worse at night. CEV vary in intensity. the text still moves around a little but i can live with that. after images but theyr not too bad. anxiety is mainly thoughts of getting worse, i had a panic attack the other night but that was a one off and usually i can live normally. the brain fog is a bastard but i was always forgetting shit anyway so its not a big deal

anyway, after the other nights miniture seizure and anxiety attack iv decided i need some form of anxiety releif in the cupboard incase i need it. i feel iv learned how to handle hppd without medication and got to know my condition and how to live with it. i do not have an addictive personality.

iv also read input from members using flurizine, keppra, sinemet and ofcourse klono.

i was wondering if i should just get valium for now ( does it help hppd anxiety a bit ) for when i need it or should i push to try get sinemet or something else?

i also read what alice said about it being like a drug enduced PTSD and i agree, iv had atleast 2 absolutely horrifying trips and now i dont like discussing drugs or thinking about those trips...i think i will try get to a shrink and see if i can discuss these issues and over come them, hopefully getting rid of my hppd as i have healed well so far.

i think that whatever helps you get over your anxiety about it getting worse will cure u in the long run

im sure everyone will ahev noticed that there symptoms are hardly there when they dont think about it, but once its on there mind is when the hppd hits hard

but benzos are a short, more dangerous answer so maybe explore other options first

uve already said ur already getting better so i know ur probably quite strong minded, i doubt benzos are even necesary, u can do without im sure!

If it is for panic attacks... Get Xanax, as it works really quickly and doesn't last all day, just enough to get you past the anxiety attack.

I can't stress enough how addictive these things are though (physically and mentally)... So be careful. It will also be very hard to find a doctor to perscribe them.

Gabapentin is a safer bet

No, if anything, it will help VS

It is my fave benzo, but doesn't last long enough (for a full day of hppd relief). Perfect for anxiety attacks though, I carry one at all times.

brilliant thanks man. my doctor is a bitch so im pretty much gunna go in and say this is how it is and this is what ur going to do about it meds-wise. she didnt have a clue what hppd was which is fair enough, so after i explained she told me to go and get an eye test. she said shed refer me to a drug addiction specialist ( wouldnt help but she didnt do that anyway ) my appointment is tomorrow afternoon so il let u know how i get on

no, i've never had that.... they just gradually go back to baseline.

I think some benzo addicts have said that their vision was even worse, as they went through withdrawals.... Probably anxiety/stress related.

2Much,, do your parents/guardians know about your condition?.... If so, If the doc is refusing, it might be wise to take them with you as back up and even suggest that your parents keep the pills and distribute as and when needed.

yeah my parents are pretty chill, my dad fucked around with acid a little when he was younger. i was just worried cos he knew a guy that took it once and went insane ( i think he actually just had hppd but back then didnt know how to handle it so he would drink loads and then flip out )

but anyway yeah they can give me back up if needed so it shouldnt be an issue

theyr both bikers, into rush and skynyrd n all that jazz so theyr pretty cool. i must say like it was scary the first few weeks when i thought i was goin nuts...cos they didnt really know what to do or say. but they certainly wernt angry or patronising and that helped.

sounds like he musta lived it up in the 60s! plenty jefferson airplane and the likes. was ur dad quite helpfull when u got ur hppd

i've not told them about hppd as I had battled through the worst of it when I was living down south and had my brother and girlfriend as support down there. They'd be cool and understanding, but I don't want to worry them now I am on top of it all.

man that musta taken alot of work keeping it from ur parents. u look 30ish so u musta got that when u were about my age. that musta been alot of work keeping it together, i have alot of respect. i was of the same mind and didnt want to tell my parents cos shits been tough but i just flipped out, i was miles away from home when it happened and i thought i had seratonin syndrome, so i pretty much thought i was going to die.

Yea, I was 18 and living with my brother at the time, down south, 150 miles away... so made it easier as I only saw my parents every few months. Getting away from my drug mates saved my life, much respect to my brother for taking me in at such a crazy time of my life.
