  1. ivan: unfortunately all doctors diagnose the disorder under the label of "depression, anxiety, blah blah blah." In regards to what you've described, depersonalization is exactly that (at least for me and a great majority) If you have overcame that, I applaud you. You only need to remove the grainy vision, which I'm sure will happen soon.

  2. mayby:

I have all the symptoms you experience and also were triggered by an SSRI (imagine the depression that caused to me), 6-7 months earlier i had taken two doses of LSD, and was a regular marijuana smoker....so i dont know which drug make this. However since i suspended the ssri some visual symptoms decreased significantly.

Be patient and dont lose hope. It's easy to get depressed or return to old habits. dont drink, dont smoke, stay sober..

  3. Thank you very much for your answer mgrade. It's true what you say about OCD, obvious for someone with DP- HPPD any neurosis its like a gigantic wave.

I dont know if you experience a kind of fluctuation in your dp-dr, as your memory comes and goes, or suddenly your vision becomes clearer. I'm trying to define which of the supplements I am taking is one that gives me such mental states.

    PD: Visual come back!!

  4. This is very confusing to me. Naloxone / suboxone etc. are not opioid antagonists receptors? Oxycodone / Vidodin / methadone are not agonists?

I have long been thinking of trying some of these medications and it seems contradictory and confusing that some people experience changes with agonists and others with antagonists ....

  5. qaiphyx and mgrade: this is the most interesting post I've read in a while. I really appreciate the effort, information and knowledge you sharing.

So far, we have spoken mainly of visual phenomena of the disorder, but what do you think of the related disorders as DP-DR, tinnitus, muscle tension, OCD ... etc? Some people claim to experience a decrease in symptoms under the influence of opiates, so perhaps the kappa opiod receptor is also linked.

Something I would like to add: regardless of my emotional states HPPD-dpdr started after taking 20mg of paxil for about a week. When i cutt of the paxil some visual distorsions dissapear.

  6. I check the links you left. I pay attention to the post about HPA dysfunction in dpselfhelp.com. While one of the sources is of dubious character, several users say find a marked improvement in his dp-dr taking certain supplements. Unfortunately some of thats supplements arent available in my country so I am researching how to get something equivalent. I have read that certain adaptogenic herbs can regulate the HPA axis imbalances.

Have checked your levels of cortisol?

  7. 3 weeks ago, I took the first big step solving one of my biggest personal trauma. I felt a great relief to emotional level (DP sufferers know that strong emotions are not common), and two days later, something strange happened with my vision.

That day I had taken a caffee early in the morning that did not raise my visuals. Approximately 7 hours after I took my usual dose of 0.5 klonopin. Moments later, in the car of a friend I began to notice that something unusual was happening with my vision.

Maybe some of you have a slight "tunnel vision" which then disappeared. I remember looking at my hands and all the scenery around me, it is difficult to explain. I did not have to force myself to focus, I was watching in HD. The trails, afterimages, etc. remained but never bothered me too much. Now I can focus and read / play on the PC without much effort.

For this strange episode i stop to visit this site every day, I was obsessing too much with hppd and symptoms. And i was doing the exact opposite that in dpselfhelp recommend to overcome depersonalization.

I have no explanation for the visual change. Obviously the fight continues, the fight against those moments when I think "oh no i cant handle this anymore?" but I know that have only tested 10% of the tools to combat this disorder.

    Best wishes to all

  8. cs1234 how long has it been since you have HPPD? I saw geometric patterns like you but disappeared when i stop taken ssri pills. It's a nightmare, because every night you remember you are not 'fine' ...

For a while i take valerian root several times a day with no significant effects, the only thing that makes me fall asleep is to think positively, take klonopin or eating large amounts of food prior to sleep better.

    hope your doing well
