  1. I don't think any question should be out of bounds on here..... We are all here because the allure of drugs was strong and I'm sure that more than a small minority of us are still fascinated by the idea of taking more.

Now, the overwhelming response will always be a huge NO.... It makes sense, we are also here because we are ill because of drugs. But taking drugs post-hppd is not a simple yes or no. It should be, but it isn't.

We all have moments of weakness, maybe a few too many beers, or the right party with the right people. A line is put in front of you and bang, you've just snorted it up without consequence.

I've been guilty of taking lsd, MDMA, coke, opiates, salvia, ketamine and various other thing, post-hppd (not to mention my favourite friend, the brandy bottle).... Not because I am stupid (open to debate), but weak. I don't beat myself up though. Shit happens.

Anyway, of all the things I have taken, post hppd... The one that has little affect on my illness is coke... that is not a reason to go and do it, you might be very different to me, it could send you over the edge or could be cut with anything. The drug that made me a lot worse, post hppd... MDMA, pure evil for us. Stay away at all costs.

Good post my brother in the HPPD spirit.

I have been clean sober from everything for almost four years now. The only thing that gets me high is dancing to Goa Trance for 8 hours at raves :D

But the only that hasnt made any difference to my HPPD is cocaine but since i am taking levodopa i would not dare touch it these days. Kinda overrated drug anyway, makes everyone a douche. So, since the funny, cool drugs are off-limit, why not do other creative and fun stuff (now this is a daily challenge).

Also travelling to sunny, not so crowded places. Went to Israel this winter, walking in the dessert etc. Forgot i had this thing, with the help of some meds of course :)

  2. Nice to hear that you could do it while on meds. My doc. wants me off my meds and since you can get zen meditation on prescription here, she would be glad to give it to me for free. I just need to get some stuff cleared off my desk.

The routine you are explaining was almost exactly like mine, though there were much things visualization techniques. Also som simple yoga like feeling your face and walking focusing on your feats.

The result is probably the same.

I can truly relate to the purification thing, although i would call it rebooting. It was a great moment i remember. While kodein and such gives you a break and makes you feel good and emphaty, the meditation was the most feeling of normality i had since onset.

I love the little tilt you get on your head when meditating :)

Hey merkan great to here, believe me you are going to heal from this stupid disorder(pernament)

The meditation that i did was just a normal sitting on a couch or chair with hand on legs, straight back, head little bit bend down(looking at the ground). but really just a little bit.

Eyes clothes(they have to relax no tension behind the eyes!!!!!!!!)

And just breathing to your nose just following your own breath.( 2 times 10/15 minutes a day).

The second meditation is the 9 breathings of purifications(also 2 times a day) this one is going to reset al the faults in your brain.

You will have benefits with more things like a better concentration less worrying overall more happienies.

AND MERKAN I WAS ALSO ON MEDICATION WHEN MEDITATED(LAMICTAL)

The meditation wont harm your medication and the medication wont harm the meditation.

The process of the meditation is also a million times stronger then that of your medication.

  3. When you have hppd the party is over.

Putting that sticker on my car...which i dont have, :)

But really nailed it, this is a thing for those of us who got it early when drugs still was a love affair and not a marriage with the occasional, casual sex. We must adapt to doing other stuff, find a way of being creative, keep occupied etc.

There wont be anymore drugs until there is a cure and a relapse lid on the right synapse has been put on. And the last part wont happen.

  4. Well, i am gonna give some cred to this thread. I did try the 10 minute guided meditation when i was at my worsening onset. It was a CD of mindfulness that i bought from the pharm.

It killed my DP for 4-5 hours but it came back at night. I got a worsening from it for two months before back to baseline. Today i still think about what would happen if i would have continued. Now i am symptom free with my meds and cant take anymore setbacks of perception, to stressful. If the day comes when my meds stop working, i'll go full on meditation.

I would really recommend this to everyone who isnt on meds. Do it with a psychiatrist though since some other of your fears can come up.

  5. Well, couldnt think of a better cure ;)

But really i did some nitrous just post my HPPD and it did not turn out very pleasent. Not sure what a strong diss. drug would do to me, too risky. Remember reading someone taking the diss. DXM post tripping and it reversed the effect of everything looking "flat".

So, perhaps but i wouldnt dare to go so deep in to another perceptive state without knowing i would turn out at least where i was before.

  7. And as i Said, you should do so if you want to. Its a better diet then any average person eats. However, while you do not see unfit vegans, many vegans have problems in their systems that will show up on tests. Its not a walk in a park and its not about eating potato chips.

  8. It may not be THE cure for our symptoms, but we'd feel a lot better for it. You'll never see milk in the same way again. This bloke will convince you:

Sorry but...LOL! I gavs this guy two minutes, claiming that meat is the oldest addiction when its really sugar(s) in different forms in nature and trying to make a dogma about religion and trying to apply it on a clearly different context then it was intended. The Guy even quoted a bibel verse.

Sorry, but i really respect people who make rational choices, or just surrender to the feeling of eating meat feels bad, but this guy?

  9. I would stronges advice to eat ketogenic diets when it comes to treating HPPD. While it is possible to do this as a vegetarian, i would say that its impossible to practice as a vegan. Basically it mens putting your metabolism to use fat instead of starch. It is used in treatment in epilepsia and has drasticly improved my symptoms (together with a bunch of other stuff). It is used by people who wants to optimize their brain capacity, like the world champion in memory contest (obviously you can compete in that), as well as the those insane thriathletes where endurance is the key.

As for vegan i wont get into ethics argument. You wanna eat it, then do so.

Just thinking about the dairy industry, as well as meat industry, i only buy eco aswell as locally produced. But then i do not eat that much since the calories you need in a ketogenic diet is like 2/3 compared to a starched based such.

  10. I have no problem with paying membership. The community is pretty much running on fumes anyway. We are still reassuring people that they are not crazy or alone etc Either we just do that or do something pro active.. It would still be possible to keep the most of the relevent channels open.

When it comes to the movie project, I can be available when it comes to pro audio. I have 1000$s worth of equipment and a lot of knowledge (studied music for film) and could work close to the management, if it'll be a narrative documentary and/or consisted of interviews doesnt make a difference.

I also have some contacts in the top of the line neurology dept. in my country as well as the possibility to contact and exchange information with drug centers.

No problem with travelling for meet ups.

The problem is of course to do such things and still be able to make a living. My job takes a lot of time.

I will read up on the other post from David when im at a computer and not on the phone.

  11. I have this, i am fine with walking on the street and feeling it but in a club when people lit up, it gets to me. I am not sure what is what. I was going to buy some protein and was recommended the one from hemp. No matter how much the seller pushed me, i wouldnt buy it and got something else instead.

I am about to buy some incense and use in my room with cannabis in some kinda geting used to it therapy. Still scared that there might be some active compund (not thc) in the plant used to make the incense. But got to try.

  12. 1, yes, just as bad

2, calm during the scuba, no impact on HPPD

3, Yes, i had a double espresso and i got vs and after mages for some hours

Perhaps there is a way to adjust meds according to exercise.  Are the symptoms you get the same as before meds?

How do you feel when scuba diving?

Does coffee affect your visuals?  (please describe this one)   Note: coffee reduces the risk of developing Parkinson's so must have some effect on dopamine systems.  Also, many HPPDers report problems with caffine.

  13. Well, since ive been completely symptom free for some time, i went to the gym and did some heavy liftening. Things like deadlifts and so.

When i lett the gym i got symptoms back to where it all started. Took me a week to get ok: ish.

I started reading about this at normal training sites about the role of the central nervous system during training. From what i have read the reason why you nere to rest between excercices is because there is a Dopamine deplition and more 5-HTP in action post excercice. To regain normal levels, you need 24-48hours of rest, but sometimes up to 3x that amount.

I know neurology and its theisis isnt exact science but for me its clear that the 5-HTP/Dopa theory is a major factor in the symptomatics of HPPD.

So, how do i deactivate my 5- HTP ;)
