  1. I'm doing a blinded experiment right now with Pregnenolone - I'm having my mom give me preg. or L-theanine (both in pure, bulk powders) in random amounts, while I take cognitive tests, heart rate, body temperature, and heart rate variability before and after. I'm almost certain I received pregnenolone yesterday because soon thereafter I felt really good. The feeling could only be described as a light 'high' (kind of warming, tingling sensation in the face/behind the eyes, kind of like a small marijuana buzz) along with increased working memory and enhanced resilience to stress. I did Duel N-Back before and after and my overall score rose some odd points and my 'average N-Back' rose to 2.55 from 2.45. After this lil' blinded trial, I'll probably opt towards taking it daily in the smallest amount I notice effects from. L-theanine, if properly sourced and taken sublingually, helps me a bit. It just makes me much more calm; One day I took 800mg spread in about 4 doses and I felt extraordinarily 'chilled' and contented with my surroundings and what not. A few weeks ago I think it is what prevented me from having what I imagine was going to be some sort of breakdown - either that, or the anxiety caused from my other HPPD symptoms was just so severe that I truly experienced a panic attack, and what I thought was panic or fear before wasn't. Now, along with my blinded Pregnenolone trial, I'm trying some other things. (1) Inclined Bed Therapy: first night I woke up feeling more rested than normaly; back pain has gotten a bit better; only two days in thus far but I'm hopeful this can help me out a bit. (2) CES: just received a refurbished OASIS II from MindAlive - last night was my first night and I used it directly before bed for 1hr. After tonight I plan on using it 2x/day, once directly before bed and once directly after waking. If I don't get what I feel to be my desired results, I'm not going to give up on CES, though simply sell the current model I have and purchase a more modern version, perhaps the Fisher Wallace or the SOTA BioTuner I may combine this with other things - micro-TENS, tDCS, heart rate variability training, or the Proteus Light and Sound Machine (3) Proteus Light and Sound Machine: just came in today, in a way I have reservations due to the entrainment and I've seen people on erowid and other sites claim to have some intense psychedelic-like experiences... definitely not what I want in my current state of being; that being said, I've seen people claim that these devices have left them drastically more relaxed and peaceful, along with enhancing meditation. Norm Shealy, M.D., Ph.D. has a bunch of cool information on different things like this, but he has done studies where he increased progesterone, DHEA, oxytocin, etc. with his weird lil' aromatherapy acupoint products+light and sound machines and magnesium oil. He uses these devices for anxiety and depression all the time. (4) Niacinamide: Just came in today; higher doses enhance serotonin uptake similar to Tianeptine; affects the same 'receptors' as some benzodiazapines; there is a book/textbook (I'll find it in my notes) where the author used extremely high doses to reverse anxiety in his case studies (from about 4-9g, ONLY 9g/day for a prolonged period of time caused some liver issues, which is what keeps some people from using this compound). Forum-goer Haidut on the Ray Peat Forums has a lot of great information on their experience with this, and claims that if you take a really large dose at night on say the weekend, you'll wake up feeling pretty 'blissed-out' so to speak, probably similar to abusing benzos, and then gradually 'come down' the next day. This isn't for recreational purposes, but simply to get in the max dose and receive the physiological benefits, though in a way that won't interfere with school/work (5) Resistant Starch: I'm doing this more for the purported cognitive/emotional benefits derived from altering the microbiome, as opposed to BG reductions/better stools/dreams (though I will be tracking my BG since I just got a BG monitor); for those who are interested, in the TULIP thread, as well as a new thread dedicated to the microbiome, both on Longecity, there are dozens of studies showing RS and other things (GOS, MOS, etc.) increasing NGF, BDNF, and other nifty brain cell growth compounds; I'll also be consuming a large raw carrot salad each day and tracking my typical measurements, then possibly add other things such as Activated Charcoal, Bamboo Shoots, Flowers of Sulphur, Sodium Thiosulfate, and some other things (I'll try to get most benefits from food, hence the carrot salads, bamboo shoot recipes, and using retrograded starches, maybe retrograded lentils, peas, and so on) (6) *EmWave: I received the original, not the EmWave2, off of Ebay for $16. Really helps a lot - there are times my 'coherence' plummets even when I'm thinking thoughts that I wouldn't have imagined were stressful. Attempting to learn and master the "Freeze-Frame" technique before I move on to other techniques (7) Diet: Tracking my temps/hr/hrv/BG and will make changes based upon my readings and my cognition, mood, etc. Right now I'm more or less mixing what I enjoy from Dr. Peat and Paul Jaminet (Perfect Health Diet author/blog). Trying to really focus on the macro-mineral/electrolytes, so testing out how an abundance of sodium makes me feel along with the calcium I get from dairy (sodium can apparently enhance retention of magnesium, and anyhow the fruit and potatoes I eat have that, let alone epsom salt+baking soda baths); thinking about adding in kidney or 1 Brazil nut/day for selenium, along with TONS of heart for CoQ10, riboflavin, etc. (8) Z-Health: A Z-Health master trainer I know hooked me up with a free copy of the "Z-Health Vison Gym" since I purchased the "R-Phase" package. I'll soon be doing visual exercises that some elite athletes use, and that some people have apparently used and thus have no more need for glasses/contacts (maybe can help with visual processing and the weird distortions I sometimes perceive); this will also incorporate movement exercises, 'brain-map' training, and breathing exercises. Oh, on PregS - I've been speaking about the Pregnenolone analogues with Dr. Peat and he's given me some reasons to be cautious of them, though I'm not entirely turned off to using them. I can post the conversation(s) if anyone wants. * I may sell the EmWave and the older Heart Math product I also obtained (that is to be used on Windows98/XP) as I can't use the software that accompanied either product on my laptop. I wanted to do extensive HRV training via the coherence coach and the 'video games' that really ramp up the intensity of training, then just use the device as a portable unit when out and about to remain level headed (sometimes I just feel soooo trippy/weird it's almost incapacitating). If I do this, I'll pick up the EmWavePro desktop/laptop unit with all the video game add-ons and the self-help meditation e-book and use that a couple hours a day. I may also give WildDivine a shot, too. I'll post back with more later!
  2. hppd24years, we will find something that works, no worries. I want to devote myself to curing this ailment through attending medical school or whatever I need and helping all who have it. It's my goal. I've had it for almost 2 years now, since I was 17, and it sucks. At times it's literally crippled me in the sense that I get so depersonalized and anxious that I'd prefer not to leave my house/room and risk some intense stressor just making things wayyy worse. Have a lot of things up my sleeve, though, haha.
  3. I'll be running trials in the future with different forms of different B-vitamins, particularly sublingual, and, perhaps IV. Theoretically, niacinamide and thiame should help a lot - there is a private forum with an emphasis on peptides (of all sorts - bodybuilding, neurotrophic, etc.) that has a BUNCH of in depth analyses of how to use different B-vit's. Niacinamide, without delving into all the scientific minutia, can potentially act similar to a benzo, and has been used in Russia/Eastern Europe to wane off of benzo's. It has a variety of benefits to the system on the whole (thinking of serotonin, prolactin, etc.); both thiamine and niacinamide can be taken in large doses without negative effects. That's not to say you should instantly do that - always start as low as possible to rule out adverse reactions. There is a large in depth textbook of sorts that delves into niacinamide for anxiety and psychiatric disorders and doses up to 9,000mg/day were used. You my get effects from as little as 100-1000mg, though.
  4. Glad you're okay... I'm going to be giving a simultaneous run at CES and Heart Rate Variability Training, I'm trying not to get too excited, so I'm just hoping for say a 10-20% reduction in overall symptoms and I'd be grateful. Also received some random Pregnenolone powder, lol.
  5. I'm receiving an EmWave I got off of Ebay tomorrow, and am probably going to buy all the books and print out all the full text studies on the topic I can, and after studying and practicing rigorously, I'll probably start using CILTEP. I'm really just wary of the over-stimulation with my current state of mind (i.e. EXTREME DR/DP leading to severe panic attacks and a lasting feeling of background anxiety 24/7 as of the past 4-5 days). I think CILTEP and other seemingly simple yet potent things similar to it can help us HPPDer's out a lot. I definitely plan on using it to study for hours on end with some mnemonic's and spaced repetition and what not to retain information. I'm excited to try it in the near future. Do you still use Nefiracetam? As I stated, I believe my problems reside in NMDA-atagonism which has often produced Schizophrenic symptoms, which is often how I describe how I feel to my fiance/mom when I'm in the middle of a "wave" of symptoms - that I feel how I would imagine a schizophrenic would feel. A lot of my symptoms fall right in line with NMDA-antagonism, and the substances I believe caused my HPPD, again, are all atagonists. My experiments I'm planning on conducting soon will be documented really well; I plan on using some of Gwern's methods of blinding and recording data, along with heart rate, heart rate variability, body temperature, blood glucose, pictures, etc. and using this along with journals to test NMDA-agonists/modulators. Bone broth and gelatinous foods along with collagen/gelatin and glyicine will be used. Perhaps pregnenolone. I know I'm young but pregnenolone seems like a viable option.
  6. With all that being said, today has been better... maybe that tDCS had some effects!?! Going to try it again soon (though it's late, haha). Can't wait to get my hands on this EmWave. Rather than using it 5, 10-20min a day, I'm gonna be going at it >1hr/day! Hope everyone is feeling well.
  7. Mine has been pretty terrible the past few days - I'm just trying to get through the next few days in which case I'll be receiving an EmWave I got of Ebay. Two nights ago I randomly got a sense of impending doom and it gradually got more intense, DP/DR intensified, breathing became rapid, etc. I was actually contemplating on going to the ER but I figured they'd just give me benzo's and maybe keep me over night and tell me to go to an outpatient facility and psychologist (an old friend who often had bad trips had this happen at our local hospital). I did some bag breathing (not hyperventilating, simply slow diaphragmatic breathing into a bag to increase and retain CO2), kept some incandescent bulbs near me (orange, red, and near infrared light), took a huge dose of L-theanine and about 10mg of CBD and there was an odd norco and xanax lying around from some family members but I'm not into those meds so I took an extremely small amount sublingually - like an 1/8 or less of a 2mg xanax. Have still been feeling really off after that event. Last night I used tDCS but I'm not sure if the device I had works or not, haha. I felt like it did nothing, but then at the same time I wasn't having any negative or extremely wandering thoughts, my mom noted that I was smiling a lot, and so on. I'm gonna try it again today up through Wednesday when I'll receive the EmWave. I may order a ton of niacinamide powder, too, and use that and L-theanine to decrease serotonin, antagonize estrogen, keep FFA at bay, etc. while also increasing a-1 brain waves and having benzo-like effects. I think high doses of both would act in synergy quite well. I also should be getting the CES Ultra device soon. I wish everyone else the best.
  8. That is a valid point, and to be honest, I completely agree. I think it's a mild NMDA-antagonist, perhaps even very mild. It's main effects seem to be lowering inflammation and 'pressure' in various areas as well as enhancing resilience to various stressors, hence why I found it interesting. I actually think that my problems were caused by extreme NMDA-antagonism, but I posted this here for others because I don't think there's a one-sized-fits-all approach to HPPD due to all the different causes, symptoms, etc. Interesting you bring up long term potentiation and what not - I was thinking of giving the well renowned "chemically induced long term potentiation - CILTEP" stack a try with creatine to study and form memories and apply that to solving HPPD and associated problems; many people claim that they essentially get the yearning to just go and sign up for online courses, watch lectures, etc. and they have tons of mental energy - they can study all day without waning and they retain the information better and make better connections. I'm just worried about becoming too stimulated using it. I'm glad you brought the negatives of NMDA-antagonism up. Have you had success with NMDA-agonists, and if so, what ones? I've been speaking to Dr. Peat a lot and I'm going to be adding a ton of bone broth into my diet and I'll probably buy a bunch of collagen/gelatin protein. Is pregnenolone an NMDA-agonist, or more of a 'regulator'? It seems safe to supplement, even at my young age (19) - it was used in some case studies of people in their early 20's with ADD/ADHD and anxiety and what not along with DHEA and other hormone and hormone-like substances, so a small dose of pregnenolone can't harm me (though, indirectly it can raise estrogen).
  9. So, how would you rate your experience with Tianeptine overall? Any information on dose, source, frequency of dosing, or how long you've been on it? Also (sorry), what specific effects does it have on you acutely and over the long haul? I'm just really interested in the compound. I don't know a lot about tianeptine, but from my brief readings I don't think choline or uridine would alter its efficacy since they affect different neurotransmitters. I can be wrong, though. By "uridine stack", are you referring to the "Happy Stack"? I'm highly interested in it. Although I'm trying to become "deficient" in the "EFAs", I don't think the amount of DHA I'd need would do much harm. Thanks for putting it out there that blending the Lion's Mane in water might be beneficial, I may try that compound in the future, but there are so many others I'd like to try. In fact, I'd like to grow my own medicinal/nutritional mushrooms, thus, I'd know if they're high quality. There's a few authors with books on this topic arguing that proper mushroom cultivation can be really beneficial for the Earth and for our species. I could only imagine what would happen if I used magnesium chloride and red light on the fungi, haha. You can just buy the lights on Ebay - the infrared LEDs I use are less than $50 and the current 630nm red laser pen I'm experimenting with is $4 I believe. You can also buy 130 volt high wattage incandescent bulbs for full spectrum red light (from red through infrared) and keep them nearby. Halogens/heat lamps, too. I found out about something called "water filtered infrared-a" which reminds me of the guy from heelspurs talking about someone who used halogen bulbs directed towards containers of water with red dye in it and used it before they slept. I'm thinking about using halogens/heat lamps with some form of a water barrier in front of it with red dye and having them on me ALL day. I really hope others chime in because I'm interested in what's helping people. I'm also thinking about "CILTEP", if anyone has tried that I'd be highly interested in experiences. I'm a little worried about causing anxiety, irritability, etc. but it could give me the edge I need in my studies (which I can then apply to learning how to fix myself and others). Hope to hear back from you (and others) soon!
  10. Has anyone heard of this compound? Here's what I originally found: Dexanabinol Pharmos by Pop E. Alchem Laboratories Corporation, Alachua, FL 32615, USA. emilpop@aol.com Curr Opin Investig Drugs 2000 Dec;1(4):494-503 ABSTRACT Then, this (I don't like abstracts and typically aim for reading full studies, but couldn't find em with my brief search): http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11990913 "Conclusions: Dexanabinol was safe and well tolerated in severe head injury. The treated patients achieved significantly better intracranial pressure/cerebral perfusion pressure control without jeopardizing blood pressure. A trend toward faster and better neurologic outcome was also observed."Dexanabinol is a non-psychotropic cannabinoid NMDA receptor antagonist under development by Pharmos Corp for the potential treatment of cerebral ischemia, glaucoma, Alzheimer's disease, cardiac failure, head injury and multiple sclerosis (MS) [311522]; it is in phase III trials for traumatic brain injury (TBI) [388709]. Dexanabinol was licensed to Pharmos for development from its originator, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem [180441]. Pharmos is seeking to enter into a strategic agreement with another company to develop and commercialize dexanabinol [317369]. Unlike its enantiomer, HU-210 (Yissum Research Development Co), dexanabinol does not interact with cannabinoid receptors [223330]. It has also exhibited more effective antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties than MK-801 (dizocilpine; Merck & Co Inc) [167980], [168212]. In addition, dexanabinol is generally well tolerated and appears toxicologically safe [170116]. Pharmos has been awarded a Small Business Innovation Research grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, Division of Stroke and Trauma. The grant covers the development of new prodrugs and novel formulations of dexanabinol and will support additional study of dexanabinol compounds for various indications. The prodrugs being studied are part of the group of compounds that include dexanabinol [247958]. A Notice of Allowance was received in March 1999 on a patent covering the use of the drug in the treatment of MS [324163]. The use of dexanabinol and its derivatives to treat MS is described in US-05932610 [358503]. An oral formulation of dexanabinol is claimed in US-05891468. Dexanabinol analogs with special utility in acute and chronic pain are claimed in US-04876276, while dexanabinol analogs for neuroprotection are claimed in US-06096740. Pharmos estimates that the worldwide market for dexanabinol in the treatment of severe head trauma may reach $1 billion per year Found it available here: http://www.tocris.com/dispprod.php?ItemId=81934 is this entirely legal to purchase? Highly expensive, but perhaps it'd be a good purchase? Looking for anyone's input!
  11. I might add that there is even another Curcumin formulation, called BCM-95, that also comes with the turmeric/curcumin essential oils, which other forms usually don't incorporate. Here are their references of the curcumin essential oils (they also have a page for curcumin itself): http://www.bcm95.com/php/ess_ref.php Also, here's a brief set of info on it: "BCM-95 is 100% pure extract of turmeric extract standardized to Curcumin Demethoxy Curcumin Bis-Demethoxy Curcumin Essential Oils of turmeric rhizome Essential Oils used in BCM-95 are extracted using double steam distillation. Contents of Essential Oils are 7-9% with ar-tumerone,α-tumerone and β-tumerone around 50%. Some of the other Essential Oils those are present in BCM-95: Ar-curcumene α-curcumene Zingeberene β-sesuiphellandrine β-atlantone Germacrone"
  12. Sounds interesting. I'm interested in some brews such as this. I'm thinking about using Dave Asprey's Upgraded Vanilla powder in my coffee daily. I need to save up money, though. My next purchases are the Fisher Wallace CES device and the EmWave2 Desktop unit (with all the games and what not to make it really intense). I kind of agree with Dave where he said one should first focus on enhancing emotional control and resilience before drastically increasing brain power - it really makes sense when you see all the manic episodes that are created on certain sites from different compounds, and I don't know about you, but my HPPD also causes severe anxiety, panic, fear, irritability, etc. and I was never like that before; I don't want to do things that make me uncontrollably energized and confident without being capable of inhibiting that, haha. Thanks for your lil' recipe!
  13. Hey guys, I just wanted to post this before I forgot, unfortunately I don't have the time to view it in its entirety as I have finish some articles and do some studying, but I found this highly interesting: http://www.slideshare.net/AakratiGupta1/ppt-on-vanilloid-receptors Potential applications from research on vanilloid 'receptors' and vanilloids - it seems to affect brain inflammation as well as affect Dopamine and has some interesting effects in the brain/nervous system (similar to CBD1 receptors), thus could potentially hold value in fear/anxiety problems. I'd like to get full access of this: http://pubs.acs.org/doi/pdf/10.1021/jm00070a002 I'm still searching for things that can help me - I believe my problems lie within NMDA because the weekend that I believe made HPPD stick with me incorporated abuse of tons of NMDA-antagonists; perhaps serotonin as well, but I find conflicting results in how MDMA affects the serotonergic system. I thought I had acetylcholine problems due to being laced with PCP/embalming fluid, yet that only has moderate anti-cholinergic activity and very potent NMDA-antagonism. Pregnenolone is an option, as is collagen/gelatin and glycine (bone broth and gelatinous meat). Hope this catches the eyes of some of you intelligent members!
  14. I'm open to being wrong, but there should be no difference between juicing raw marijuana or eating the bud, and in some of the videos by Dr. William Courtney I believe he claims he or others have eaten them raw - they just juice them with carrots and what not to take away the taste. You need to heat marijuana to deactivate the 'acid' form and activate the 'regular' THC, CBD, etc. In terms of edibles, you need to both heat the weed and add a source of fat. I've witnessed multiple times when edibles are seemingly non-psychoactive due to overcooking and the absence of a source of fat; my old friend before I went sober after HPPD was freaking me out (didn't know I had it then) has eaten buds as to not get caught by authorities and his parents and claims to have not gotten high. Also, the amount is roughly one bud a day (unless in the case of the woman in the mini-documentary of juicing raw cannabis). Hypothetically, if there was a difference and you could only juice the bud, I'd say the OP still has nothing to lose. He won't get high and it might be very medicinal.
  15. I apologize if I missed something (I simply skimmed the posts), but there are some misinterpretations. There are dozens of textbooks on pharmacokinetics/dynamics of cannabinoids and even evolution and the endocannabinoid system - eating marijuana in its raw form is completely non-psychoactive, and it isn't due to CBD. Raw cannabis has cannabinoids in their non-denatured form and are considered "acids" i.e. there is still THC but it's actually THC-acid. I'd recommend watching this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRLVyGfGcZs
  16. Oh yeah, I forgot to add that I'll be seeing my General Practitioner this upcoming Tuesday, and plan on discussing Low Dose Naltrexone and the Fischer Wallace CES unit (you need a prescription for that). LDN has some potential for anti-aging purposes as well. Sorry about the long post up there^^
  17. Hey man, how's it going? Thanks for posting this, I was just coming to check and see if there were any updates from anyone in things that have helped them. I have been looking into some things to try because HPPD has been almost debilitating for me lately. If I were you, I'd continue using the Tianeptine for awhile; a lot of the effects accrue after a period of weeks and months. I'd check the Longecity topics on Tianeptine. One user noted that he felt really odd at times while on it for the first 10 days, yet overall he felt better (a brighter mood, and although he was more irritable, he was also capable of inhibiting certain things and becoming mindful of them) and he continued taking the substance for months I believe and then stopped, noticing that it made him feel generally better and after stopping he didn't have a drastic and instant reduction in his increased mood/cognition due to how it affects the various parts of your brain as opposed to SSRIs (syntaptic plasticity and perhaps maintenance of dendrites in various regions of the brain by lowering ACTH). How has Lion's Mane worked for you, and what source are you using? I've been doing some research on Lion's Mane, Ginkgo Biloba, and Bacopa, and the main confounding variable for the research and for peoples experiences (in my opinion) is the source and formulation. For instance, some forms of Ginkgo have been shown to do relatively nothing to the acetylcholinesterase enzyme, yet a standardized formulation EGb-761 did, and it did so more potently than Bacopa. There are tons of forms of Ginkgo, too: EGb-761 (AKA GBE-761), Kaveri, GINKOCER, Geriaforce, and many more. They all have different amounts of certain compounds such as bilobalides and ginkgolides and ginkgolic acids. Personally, I've currently been experimenting with Intranasal Infrared Light, pulsed at 10hz, 25mins per day. I've completed a 10 day experiment with it, am stopping for 3 days, then doing another 10 days. Not sure on the effects just yet. Hasn't done much for HPPD but at the same time I feel as though my memory recall, especially with words, is enhanced, and my skin definitely looks better. A lot of the effects take at the minimum of 10 days, though, hence why the experiment has really just started. My upcoming "stack" is going to look like this: 1. LiftMode brand L-theanine as needed 2. 5g Creatine (starting this Monday), though I might increase this to 10g 3. Cycles of Intranasal Infrared Light (810nm, pulsed at 10hz) - depends upon my findings in the literature, but I may continue doing 10-day cycles with intermittent breaks, or 30-days followed by a week off, etc. I also might start doing it for more than 25mins at a time (some studies utilize up to 1hr at a time) 4. Cycles of Intrasal Red light (633nm, not pulsed) - same as above 5. Weekly and/or every other day transcranial infrared light after shaving my head - primarily the prefrontal cortex and occipital lobes 6. Red Laser Acupuncture (630nm): depends on the literature, maybe daily, weekly, or "as needed" 7. Orange Juice, Salt, and baking soda: Starting to read a lot of Hans Selye's hormone physiology textbooks and am hoping this can aid in my thyroid health while lowering corticosterone and ACTH; baking soda will be used at ~2tsp/day along with ~1lb in a bath when I take them. Other considerations: 1. Some form of Ginkgo Biloba - have to do a lot more research, but some formulations enhance acetylcholine levels in the prefrontal medial cortex (I believe) and hippocampus while regulate acetylcholinesterase 2. Magnesium Carbonate, Bicarbonate, Glycinate, Chloride: the carbonate form is effective at lowering phosphorous levels; more research needed 3. Glycine: More research needed, but high doses are definitely tolerable 4. Aspirin: low doses are safe and effective for reducing risk of various cancers; higher doses can lead to enhanced oxidative phosphorylation (free heat production) and can probably aid in thyroid health 5. PC Ecklonia Cava: Affects MANY neurotransmitters and brain peptides; enhances blood flow in the brain; a very potent brain anti-inflammatory, etc. Primarily interested in its ability to drastically raise acetylcholine and modulate acetylcholinesterase. It's just quite expensive. Any input?
  18. I'll be looking into these 'actoprotectors'. If I find a way to purchase them from a trustworthy vendor I'll notify everyone - it just seems as though one would only be able to purchase them in America/the West from conspicuous Eastern European individuals/groups, haha. I think LSD may do things to genes, it definitely does to neurotransmitters and long term neurotransmitter modulation would have epigenetic effects. I know some people who oftentimes micro-dose LSD for it's nootropic value. The only reason I haven't tried is (1) legality issues, and (2) one of my old friends had a complete break down on an extremely low dose of LSD; I mean, it was probably enough for some psychoactive effects, so perhaps if it were halved the effects would be different. But simply seeing what happened on such a small dose makes me think otherwise (I've never had that happen on LSD, but with HPPD I wouldn't try it, haha). Interesting observations on temperature. There is such a thing as therapeutic hyperthermia to kill bacteria/germs/viruses/etc. in the body and some alternative and anti-aging practices use it as a therapy. I found it interesting that Broda Barnes found that high temperatures in the morning being an indicator of a great thyroid and the lack of heart disease, diabetes, depression, psychosis, etc. Then pair this with Peat's observations and the fact that some Russian literature backs it all, let alone the actoprotectors increase pulse and temps... just gets me thinking. I believe my HPPD was caused from an anti-cholinergic substance, and interestingly when I started TULIP I also took relatively high dose ALCAR which can increase acetylcholine and I felt sooo good for a couple months. I may try this again but I'm first going to start with intermittent doses of Suntheanine to maintain peak levels in the hippocampus and blood along with edible green tea and matcha green tea. I'd recommend you guys email some places and inquire about used products, you can find some good deals. I just found an intranasal infrared LED (10hz pulsing) unit for like $60, so I'll be experimenting with that. It irradiates your blood with the light as well as affecting your midbrain/hypothalamus.
  19. If you want something that can reduce serotonin, you can easily accomplish that with diet alone: eat less tryptophan rich foods and incorporate copious amounts of collagen/gelatin and/or bone broth, joints, etc. If you eat a meal rich in tryptophan, have the said compounds/foods with the meal, perhaps in a 2:1 ratio (though you don't have to get all technical with the minutia and what not). It's really effective in lowering serotonin. Also, I spoke about this briefly in another thread, but it seems as though no one saw it - thyroid function is what drives nerve regeneration and myelination. If you have even somewhat of a sluggish thyroid, there isn't going to be proper nerve repair. Oh yeah, after I start doing some other work, I'll report back on it, but Dr. Peat has an excellent book on Russian brain physiology research, a lot of it gets into some pretty interesting ideas about the functions of organisms and sexuality and how this effects our further evolution and sociological functioning; but a lot of it gets into how to create lasting structural and chemical changes to the CNS. His article Biophysical Approaches to Altered States of Consciousness is also worth a read if you don't mind all the seemingly suppressed biological ideas in it (Gilbert Lings and others). For instance, seeing an odd compound mentioned in that article, I thought about doing some digging before bed. I just found this: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3762282/ The Pharmacology of Actoprotectors: Practical Application for Improvement of Mental and Physical Performance Actoprotectors are very similar to adaptogens, with some interesting differences. Most of these compounds were synthetic adaptogen/nootropic-like compounds made in the Soviet Union for the military, cosmonauts, Olympic athletes, and so forth. There are a bunch of compounds mentioned, but here are some of the benefits found in many studies in one such actoprotector: "It has been established that the therapeutic effect of bemitil is a function of its complex mechanism entailing cell genome activation, optimization of mitochondrial oxidation, oxidative stress reduction, and stimulation of cellular immune response (Shabanov, 2009b). Basically, bemitil (and other benzimidazole actoprotectors) is similar to purine bases in its chemical structure (Fig. 4). It was supposed that this structural similarity explains the influence of bemitil on the cell genome, the amplifying expression of RNA and proteins, particularly enzymes of gluconeogenesis and oxidative phosphorylation, as a central link in bemitil’s mechanism of action. This activation is first expressed in organs (i.e. the liver, kidneys, and alimentary tube) having short-lived, renewable proteins. (...) Bemitil primarily encourages anaerobic energy production, ATP formation, and resynthesis of glucoses from the products of carbohydrates decay (lactate and pyruvate) and from glycerol and amino acids, which mostly occurs in the liver and kidneys. Bemitil promotes the utilization of lactates (one of the main factors in work capacity reduction) under excessive physical loads which process is conjugated with the Cori and glucose-alanine cycles (Fig. 5). In these cycles, bemitil neutralizes and eliminates not only lactate but also the nitrogeneous products of decay (ammonia, etc.)."
  20. Interesting bit on 7,8-dihydroxyflavone. I saw that thread but never opened it up. It gets me thinking: they stated green tea is a source of insignificant amounts of this compound; well, edible green tea often has upwards of 10,000% of various compounds found in green tea for drinking. I've really been looking into enhancing oxidative metabolism for brain power and edible green tea is loaded with nutrients that fuel oxidative metabolism. Here are some of the flavanol contents of different substances: http://www.eatgreentea.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/flav-1.pdf I'm going to check out the group buy on NSI-189, thanks.
  21. I'm highly interested in this compound as well. Is the group buy going on still? OneDayI'llSailAgain: So you didn't get much effects yet from Cerebrolysin? I wanted to send you some information I came across on some interesting forums. This guy was running a trial with Cerebrolysin and found this huge literature review on it and it seems as though doses up to 40mL/day have been used with no toxicity. A lot of people seem to benefit from increasing the dose to 10-15mL. Intravenous is another option, but that can be dangerous and plus everyone has different opinions on injecting things into their veins (I personally wouldn't unless everything I plan to try for HPPD didn't work).
  22. Haha, compliment or no? But on a serious note - no, I haven't tried any psychoactive substances in ages. I don't know how many months I've been sober but definitely over 8, and before that I only drank once and awhile for a few months. I don't plan on using any psychoactive substances (including alcohol) until I'm fully recovered, if that recover in fact occurs (I'm optimistic and believe it will eventually). Even then, I'd rather alter consciousness through other means such as neurofeedack, holotropic breathing (that seems more wild than some psychedelics, and can typically be more controlled), yoga, etc. I'd never go back to where I was, and in a hypothetical situation in the future without HPPD, I'd probably stick to high CBD cannabis.
  23. Hey there, hope everyone is doing fine as of late. Personally... not so much. Hence why I wanted to make this thread and ask some questions and throw out some comments. I would like to know: (1) What has helped you with HPPD the most overall (for instance, perhaps it didn't effect all of your symptoms, but it completely dissipated DR/DP). (2) What was the most consistent with helping your HPPD symptoms? Personally, transcranial LLLT and the TULIP protocol helped me the most by far. I then took a LONG break to see how long I could function normally, and as of the last week I felt symptoms start creeping back up on me. Decided to do a 'treatment' again, and there was a power surge while my LEDs were at my head - I can be wrong, but I believe it screwed with my head more than I have already. The following day was a rapid intrusion of all my HPPD symptoms and then some happened, right in time for my job interview . I almost thought I was losing it for a bit: extreme DP/DR, which caused intense fear and panic, everything had a slight sense of 'warping' going on, trailers following everything, even simply my hand moving. I felt weightless and almost as if I were going to have an out of body experience or something. Symptoms have remained since then (about 4 days). Some things I'm going to do: (1) Start up every-other-day 850nm LED treatments again. I've got to teach myself a bunch of math before Jan.15th to take a placement test and hopefully skip some easy fundamental courses, but afterwards I want to assess the estimations made by some of the research as I believe I may be able to do multiple treatments in a day, or at least much, much longer treatments when I do (say, 10-15min as opposed to 1-2). (2) Sleep with the EarthPulse on Recover Mode under my head through a thin pillow each day. This has helped when I've done it, but the wiring in my house leads me to believe I may do harm in the long run, so I'm using it in a protected extension cord to prevent power surges again. Recover mode cycles and doesn't remain static, but it is roughly 9.6hz at all times with a strong Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (gauss depends on if the base is attached, if the screw is in, the density of your mattress/pillows, etc.). A comprehensive study by NASA showed this frequency to be especially useful in neuronal regeneration: http://ston.jsc.nasa.gov/collections/TRS/_techrep/TP-2003-212054.pdf (3) Look into some interesting substances I haven't seen frequently spoken about. For instance, I recently came to learn about something known as PC-Ecklonia Cava (extract) - an algae based polyphenol/phlorotannin complex. It has a wide array of uses, but the neurological benefits are what caught my eye. It increases transcranial blood flow and increases the parasympathetic nervous system 'tone'. It also simultaneously increases acetylcholine AND inhibits AchE. It also improves the production of various neurotransmitters and proteins, but the one that made me excited was increases in GABA.Oh, best of all, it can pass the 'blood brain barrier'! According to one review, there was a study in which 60% of mild to moderate Alzheimer's patients were capable of returning to unassisted living following three months of supplementation. This is all highly intriguing to me, because I believe that the substance that caused me to have HPPD was PCP or embalming fluid (I unknowingly ingested this at a concert while on other substances) and it appears that those substances are anti-cholinergic. Many of the symptoms I experienced afterwards are resonant with acute anti-cholinergic syndrome. Though, it might also be something with NMDA/serotonin as that weekend I also used a lot of MDMA and DXM. I've been thinking that, since there is such a wide range of HPPD symptoms, and many substances can cause it, each individual may have different techniques/compounds that will help them due to an individual cause. Therefore, we'd all do ourselves some justice by investigating the MOA's of the substances we believed to cause our HPPD (unless it is more complicated than that for your particular situation - I'm simply fairly certain as to what caused mine). Some other things I want to try are Metyhlene Blue, Ultra Low Dose Naltrexone, and Cerebrolysin. Methylene Blue seems to be highly synergistic with LLLT, though you should do the two at different times due to enhancing photosensitivity of your cells (probably chromophores). LDN, as most of you probably know, has actually been used to treat HPPD. The thing is, people have success for their issues with Naltrexone in dosages FAR under "LDN". I'm going to go to my general practitioner and try to get a script for HPPD and take extremely low doses and build up only if I have to. I've seen some interesting threads on Longecity about people using it simply for anti-aging, so if it largely helped with HPPD, and then LLLT and PEMF started kicking it, I'd probably continue to take it. Lastly, I know OneDayI'llSailAgain has been using Cerebrolysin with little to no benefit, but the thing is that in the literature doses up to 40mL/day have been used. If I were to try Cerebrolysin, I'd probably start with 5mL, then 10, then 20. Oh, lastly, one thing I've seen a lot of people neglect to (please don't take that offensively, anyone) come across/realize, is the fact that our thyroid is behind nerve regeneration. Dr. Peat has a ton of great information on this, though I try not to follow any particular individual any longer. His book on Russian brain tissue research, or his article on biophysical approaches to altered states of consciousness are worth a read. Enhancing the thyroid leads to nerve growth and myelination of our brains. According to my temps and pulse (and pulse strength), my thyroid is terribly sluggish, and I look forward to seeing how I feel as I increase these numbers. If someone wants to read something not associated with Dr. Peat (it sees as though some have reservations against him and think he's nuts, but it's because a lot of people haven't read Gilbert Ling, Dr. Becker, Gerald Pollack, etc. who revolutionized biology and showed that much of current mainstream biology is flawed and almost mythical), reading Dr. Broda Barnes books would be great. He has treated tons of people who are supposedly 'healthy' with thyroid and there is a complete lack of heart attack and depression within these groups. Interestingly, when looking for literature on treatments for HPPD, I came across a short article on Erowid about thyroid meds for various forms of psychosis. Well, I've babbled too much. Just wanted to get this out of my head before I have another 'flare' and am incapable of concentrating enough to write this. Hope everyone is doing well!
  24. Hey guys, how's it going!? Just wanted to 'revitalize' this thread... Has anyone additionally tried the protocol? How are you doing onedayillsailagain? Personally, I took a LONG break from TULIP after running out of the supplements, over 6 weeks. My sever symptoms were largely reduced from 1-2 treatments every 7-10 days. My symptoms recently came back again, which is bad due to finals week, having to take placement tests, getting a new job, etc. But I look at this in a positive light - my symptoms were DRASTICALLY reduced while I used LLLT/TULIP, and took a month and a half to come back (besides the daily visuals/trippy crap, but everything else was gone). Therefore, I plan on starting up the treatments again, starting with 3x/week, then down to 1x/week and finding my minimum effective dose. There are a couple other things I'm trying and will be trying: (1) CBD - this was sent for me and my ill younger brother. Going to be using CBD gum, Cibidex, and CBD Oil. I took some baseline cognitive tests, which were worse than they should've been due to a HPPD flare at the time of testing; plan on taking 10mg/day through the gum for about a month, taking the tests again, then using the Cibidex, and so on. (2) PEMF: using the EarthPulse - Paul Becker sent one for my brother and I've been using it as well. My resting breath hold has increased quite a bit since using it for a couple weeks; I haven't gotten the main benefits of it because I sleep for so long and so well with it, and then I turn it on Alert mode and fall asleep again, thus waking up with odd brainwaves. My HPPD was bad today at school and I came home and took an hour and a half or so nap with the EarthPulse under a pillow at my skull on Air-Core setting (weakest field) on Recover Mode; woke up and my HPPD (besides visual snow and photosensitivity) was gone for a couple hours, then returned but to a smaller degree. I'm going to try to take more naps on recover mode, and stop messing with the setting after waking up and altering my brain waves. (3) CO2: Breathing into a paper bag and using the BreathSlim. I may purchase some other CO2 increasing masks that are used for epilepsy (the CO2 stops seizures in 20 seconds) and use them, or get other breathing apparatuses but use them inside a paper bag to increase CO2 (4) Medical Baths with LOTS of sodium bicarbonate and magnesium chloride (found a soure of bulk mag. chloride as well as lots of foods and oils such as mct oil). (5) I may possibly take up smoking pure, additive free tobacco - from preliminary research there seems to be health benefits to tobacco, and not just nicotine but the smoke itself. It's hard for me to believe so I need to do a lot of research and use some baseline tests (heart rate, body temp, body oxygenation, blood pressure, exercise performance, etc.) and then I may try it. I was thinking of looking for some tomorrow at the local smoke shops. I'd opt for a water pipe or hookah, but I'd be willing to experiment with personally rolled cigarettes. Other things I'm interested in trying is bioavailable curcumin (with peperine or some form of phospholipids), Aspirin (affects prostaglidins, COX, prevents lipid peroxidation, etc.), and a bunch of other things. Incandescent bulbs are a cheap and useful source of orange, red, and near infrared light. I have a question - what has been the single most efficacious and LASTING thing you have done or taken to reduce any HPPD symptom? Thank you.
  25. By the way, people can purchase LED units for very cheap. More expensive Lasers can be purchased, but I don't have any of those. Every wavelength, as well as laser vs. LED has their pros and their cons, but LED units are cheap and often not marketed for medical applications, thus are very cheap. The LED units I use were actually sent to me, and I never purchased them, but they are only around sixty or so dollars combined for the two units; one has 96 LEDs of 850nm, and one has 48 LEDs of 850nm. I think intranasal light irradiation would be the next thing I want to try, because I believe it would be even more efficacious than transcranial uses due to not having to worry about hair and skull depth, though you wouldn't be able to target all different brain regions such as the Reticular Activating System; intranasal light, from my preliminary studies, targets the midbrain/hypothalamus while also irradiating the blood when traveling up the nostrils. I don't want to get too deep into this just yet, as I haven't done the research fully nor tried it for myself yet, but I believe by making use of special glasses that I've been trying out, with different sources of indoor lighting, you may be able to get red light into your brain via the retina, as well as heal and protect the retina itself. Here is a clue: http://www.sciencealert.com.au/news/20112004-22093.html
