  1. I believe I got it from weed. I was a daily pot smoker for about 2 years. During that time span, I used LSD once, mushrooms 3 times, and smoked salvia a couple of times. The night I acquired HPPD, I took a Zoloft thinking it was similar to benzodiazapenes, then I smoked marijuana. When I was trying to fall asleep, I noticed closed eye visuals for the first time, and then when I opened my eyes I saw visual snow everywhere.
  2. Haha, yeah playing basketball takes my mind off HPPD. I also get freaked out anytime I take a med. I'm always thinking it could make my visuals worse, especially after reading some stories on here and the visual snow boards. I know that I am hyper-aware (is that a word?) of my visual field so taking any med makes me anxious and ever more aware of my visuals. I don't think any meds I have taken have made my visuals worse.
  3. Honestly, my visual problems are probably like a 2/10 compared to some of the people's on here. My worst visual symptoms are visual snow, afterimages, and closed-eye visuals. I can read, drive, shoot a basketball the same as I did before. My only issue with reading is the anxiety I experience. I hope that helped.
  4. I took whatever the maximum dosage is, which I believe is 45 mg.
  5. I took Mirtazapine for about a year and a half after I read that someone was "Cured from a medically diagnosed case of HPPD." It had no positive or negative effect on my visuals, but it did help with my depression.
  6. Why are you interested in this drug? It sounds like a really potent benzo.
  7. I believe Klonopin has a pretty long half-life, longer than most of the other benzodiazepines so feeling less DP/DR for 2 days is probably normal. The issue is that you can build tolerance to benzos and they can become addicting. I'm currently trying to get off 1.5 mg because I believe that it's doing more harm than good. I wish I had never started on benzos. It does reduce my DP/DR but only for a couple hours after I take it. It also fucks with my memory as well. If Klonopin is helping you, I think that's great. Just be aware that it has it negative side effects.
  8. Thanks for the reply, Larry. I saw Dr. Abraham a few months after I acquired this disorder, but I can't see him now because either my insurance doesn't cover it or he doesn't accept insurance. I guess I probably shouldn't be looking to try Sinemet, anyway. It seems like it has nasty side effects.
  9. Hello everyone, I've had HPPD for 5 years and I would say it's on the mild side, but it still affects me in a negative way. My worst symptoms are visual snow, closed eye visuals, and afterimages. I don't have trails. My psychiatrist has been pretty liberal in prescribing medication but he won't prescribe Sinemet. I showed him a paper from Dr. Abraham's website about the Sinemet trial, and he said he doesn't feel comfortable prescribing sinemet or tolcapone. I'm looking for ways to get him to prescribe Sinemet. I'm currently on 1.5 mg clonazepam, 150 mg amitryptiline, and 3000 mg of Keppra. I've been on Keppra for 11 months and I don't think it's done anything. Thanks.
  10. I'm very interested in doing the 10-day retreat, but I'm currently on an anti-depressant and klonopin. Do you think I wouldn't get the full effects of the meditation if I'm on these meds?
  11. Could you describe in a little more detail what this drug does, the dosage, etc?
  12. @mutts I know what you're saying about that quote, but I think it depends on the level of suffering. It's kind of like, you make mistakes and you learn from them, and therefore, you are a stronger as a person. As an example, I had a girl break my heart, but I learned a lot from the experience. With LAPD, the "mistake" of taking drugs is so apparent to us 24/7 that it feels like a curse.
  13. Hey everyone, it's good to see the forum up and running again. I've had HPPD or LAPD for 2 and half years now and I really just can't move on in my life. My anxiety isn't terrible, but I feel like the depression is getting worse everyday. I run almost every day and eat pretty healthy. I'm currently on 2mg of Klonopin and 300mg of Wellbutrin. I've tried Celexa in the past, but I hated the way it made me feel. It was like I wanted to cry, but the drug wouldn't let me. My psychiatrist is recommending I try Effexor if the Wellbutrin doesn't help alleviate some of the depression. I feel like every time I take an anti-depressant, I get placebo anxiety thinking that it's going to increase my visuals. So far though, I don't think they have. I just wanted to know some of your experiences with anti-depressants. I guess there should also be a separate medication thread. Cheers, Skunk
