  1. One word describes it for me. - Terrible. Although Sinemet helps a lot when it is active, the times when i'm at 100% dissociation are bad. To put it in perspective, mine is/was so terrible that I ended up descending into a heavy opiate addiction to escape.
  2. I can honestly say that Sinemet has helped my DP/Dr A LOT. It still has a reducing effect on my afterimages as well. I never got much relief from visuals with Sinemet but Im not taking it for that. The DP/Dr aspect of this problem is the biggest issue for me and that's what Sinemet helps the most. The only other thing that I can say for sure that drastically reduces both visuals, anxiety and DP/DR are opiates. The only problem is that they cause hardcore dependency. Sometimes I wonder if being addicted to opiates is a better life choice than having to constantly worry about HPPD on a daily basis.
  3. That's foolish. Taking an exam is going to allow him to exactly pinpoint what the problem is? He must be the smartest man on earth who is able to cure anything then with his fool-proof testing.
  4. So i decided to have a few beers with my Sinemet today. I have to say all of my sensory systems seem authentic and real. Much more than usual. Like my hearing feels like it used to. It doesn't seem so out of place and strange. It's hard to explain. I guess it's the Dp/Dr fading in and out.
  5. I printed off the threads from this site of the other members that were trialing the drug and were reporting a lot of success with it. As long as this guy isn't a complete asshole I think he will understand. Sinemet isn't an abusable scheduled drug and it's not used to get high so I can't see a reason why he wouldn't be willing to try you on it.
  6. I've tried it and I thought it was horrible. It made me feel very uncomfortable.
  7. 1998, Any reasonable doctor should be willing to work with you considering the dose needed to help HPPD and DP/Dr with Sinemet isn't that much. Plus there is always the fact that this medication has the potential to totally bring you back into reality and that in and of itself should be enough for your phsyician to want to help you with this. I mean i've been on it for 2 weeks now and I have breakthrough days every 3-4 days or so where I feel better and better and more and more like myself.
  8. I'm still feeling good on my prescribed dose.
  9. I have also heard about the possible liver complications but I don't know too much about it one way or the other. My Primary Care Physician didn't say anything to me about it and he's a very knowledgeable guy. Ill let you know if my liver suddenly fails from this haha.
  10. Happy to hear that you're doing well on it. I think this could be the drug that many people who have both DP/DR and PTSD and HPPD will find relief from.
  11. Another thing that i've noticed is that my pupils aren't as big as they normally were before I started taking Sinemet. The only time I could get them to shrink was when I used opiates but now, even after not taking any Tramadol, the Sinemet seems to keep them at normal levels.
  12. The way you explain how a DA like Sinemet "recharges" the brain is quite interesting. Using powerful medications used to treat PD for HPPD must mean that there was indeed significant physiological adaptation/changes made to the brain due to drug use. That is quite scary yet I feel we've gotten so lucky that there is a drug that can treat it.
  13. 1998, if you do end up going on Sinemet, be sure to continue taking it for awhile. If you're going to receive benefit from it then the effects should be felt immediately once it kicks in but the drug feels like it has a progressive trait to it where the longer you're on it the better everything becomes. It feels like plateaus. Every 2-3 days after my 1st-2nd dose a new wave of emotions and familiarity washes over me and i feel even more connected to myself and my surroundings. It's definitely tough to explain but you should know exactly what i'm talking about when you start on it.
  14. Sinemet can be relaxing imo depending on what/if it treats in your symptomology spectrum.
  15. I was able to get it through my Primary Care Physician. I think he sympathized a bit with me because I got off klonopin when I first started to see him. I printed out some threads from this site showing how other people have had success treating their symptoms with Sinemet. Maybe print a thread or two out from here and show him the conversations?
  16. This is just my uneducated opinion but I think Sinemet might be a progressive type of treatment for the people who get benefit from it. I've felt better and better over the past week. Who knows what has been screwed up with us who have HPPD. It could be that an adequate amount of time is needed to properly set everything straight again.
  17. But I wanted to add that I took doulbe my dose this morning and I must say that I am feeling great. Very emotional right now too because I feel like a human being again. It's hard to think about the hole that DP/Dr throws you into and when you're in it it feels like you'll never be normal again but I think the successful treatment with Sinemet proves that this problem is strictly having to do with neurotransmitter/neuronal circuits not functioning correctly.
  18. My bane is opiates i am afraid. I would take an opiate even if it made my HPPD worse because I love the state of mind they put me in. It kind of sucks because I never touched painkillers before I developed HPPD. I guess it's an acquired taste but it's a taste I could definately live without. It's too late for that at this point though now. But one of the great things about kicking the DP/DR with Sinemet is that I think about them A LOT less now because I mostly used them to escape. I can honestly say though that i've picked up an addiction that will probably be with me for the rest of my life.
  19. Keppra did absolutely nothing for me. I think I convinced myself that it worked when I first started but realistically it was doing nothing.
  20. It mainly helps my dissociation the most. It's also great for afterimages but most of the other visual symptoms remain. To be honest, I take Tramadol as a substitute for the pills I used to buy illegaly. If im going to be taking something it might as well be a prescription even though it doesn't stack up against the more powerful painkillers. It works nonetheless.
  21. I take the same dose as Jay does x3 daily. I also take Tramadol 50mg as needed for headaches. Usually equaling to about 200-300mg a day.
  22. I'd classify it as a disorder based solely on the fact that it can cause significant amounts of distress and interruption in one's life.
  23. So i've started taking Sinemet and it has helped me a lot. It fixes the dissociation completely while the drug is active and it also lessens the severity of some of the visuals I have like prolonged afterimages and floaters. I went to my PCP and brought him printouts of this thread showing that other people were having success with Sinemet in treating their HPPD so he agreed to start me out low and see how I did on it. I'll put up an update post here in a few days to tell how it's going then.
