VisualDude Posted July 12, 2012 Report Posted July 12, 2012 Some migraine meds and antiseizure meds work on "voltage-gated calcium channels" FWIW, There is relationship with these channels to dopamine and acetylcholine systems. Example: http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/000689939500053S If anyone has had ANY changes in HPPD symptoms (good or bad) with Calcium Channel Blockers, please post to this topic. Thanks.
nepuinthesky Posted July 12, 2012 Report Posted July 12, 2012 would it be possible to combinate drugs like sibelium with sinemet to avoid the parkinsonian like side effects?
VisualDude Posted July 13, 2012 Author Report Posted July 13, 2012 would it be possible to combinate drugs like sibelium with sinemet to avoid the parkinsonian like side effects? Good question ... since Sibelium reduces dopamine then Sinemet could counteract that particular effect. "These results suggest an antidopaminergic effect of flunarizine [sibelium]" http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11472878 Ironically: http://aje.oxfordjournals.org/content/175/7/627.abstract "Experimental evidence and case-control studies suggest that dihydropyridine calcium channel blockers (DiCCBs) may protect against Parkinson’s disease." Sibelium is listed as possibly causing parkinsonism http://www.parkinsons.org.uk/Docs/is_druginducedparkinsonism.doc
