  1. There is always hope my friend, just keep a positive mindset and you will more than likely overcome this. Keep in mind, there are very few cases of permanent hppd. Most cases clear up in months but it could possibly take up to a year to recover normal vision. A lot of my symptoms have actually cleared up. Im still in hell, dont get me wrong, but there is always hope for you and me. Just be glad your dp/dr isnt constant. Keep your head up :-)

I don't mean to take away hope, but it can take over a year to recover. So for all of you that are still noticing decreasing symptoms after 1 year, it's probably going to take another year for zero symptoms.

  2. I was always wondering about this one and I even think I started a thread about it a long time ago. I just quit smoking pot for the 20th time so I'll most likely be trying it very soon. Thanks for all the info and reports guys.

I wouldnt even worry about kava, Ive read numerous times about it and its effects on hppd and most if not all people were not affected by it negatively.

one thing though, do you remember any of the negative or not good reports that you mentioned?

I'm fresh out of Kava :( But indeed it's a harmless anxiolytic. I've even read anecdotal reports of people using it to attain clarity in meditation.
I find at times it helps me find contentment.
And there's all kind of varieties, which keeps it interesting.
Kava honey is amazing! Kava candy is useful for on the road. I use it when I ride with public transport, to take the edge off of the anxiety.
There's a spray called 1hourbreak which is also useful, I got a free sample from them.
There's instant Kava-Coco drink, and other flavors.
Personally I like to take 2-3 glasses of the traditional drink, and 2 dabs of Kava Honey.

Definitely better than weed and alcohol in my opinion. Doesn't come with the fogginess those do.
Also some evidence suggests it upregulates some of your GABA receptors, in other words, making it easier for you to relax, even when not using it.
And yes indeed, doing alot can make you feel a bit spacey, but it does no harm.

It's also great for sleep. I love the stuff :)

how long have you been using kava?

  3. I thought I remembered somone reporing a relapse from anasthesia but I searched for it and all I found was good things. I bumped a good thread about knee surgery to the top of the main and general forums for you. it sounds like noone had any problems but I just skimmed it.

thnks bro that helped a lot! I almost cant wait cause it means I get high as fuck and get painkillers haha!

  4. I wouldnt worry about this too much. This is very minor srugery. The anesthetic shouldn't affect you too much. They just kinda knock you out for a few minutes and you wake up high as hell. Even if it does, the painkillers they give you should help you ignore any spike in smypotms until the return to normal.

thanks for the input, I decided to swerve away from the laughing gas and opted for the IV to put you under. I'd still like to hear some experiences with this though.

  5. Hmmm... I still have my cough but Im just gonna wait it out and not take the chance. I just know that I'll have to take an antibiotic at somepoint though.

Might as well nip it in the bud if you're that sure it's an infection. It can mean the difference between weak antibiotics and stronger ones.

  6. Tramadol is a SRA, forcing your brain to release serotonin and raising your seizure threshold. I wouldn't take it (even in therapeutic doses) for HPPD. Also, because of this its WDs are a lot worse than most other opis. When I make poppy seed tea sometimes it makes my visuals better but sometimes when I'm nodding really hard I'll come back from a dream and my visual snow has formed large shapes again, but this is probably b/c of all the different combinations of alkaloids. Any other opiate and I'm set though, just like shaolinbomber said

It's crazy that so many other members here get negative effects from opiates

  7. I've been buying Xanax 4 bars off the street recently and i try to manage my use to 1 bar a day bit i usually end up taking another half towards the end of the day since the half life of alprazolam is so short.

Other than that I see no reason to abuse them. Taking a bunch of em just knocks you out. no euphoria. its a waste imo.

I kind of agree, but at the same time a lessening of symptoms and anxiety is pretty euphoric to me. Not in the neurochemistry sense, but psychologically. There's also a 'just one more pill' mentality you get once you start buzzing off benzos as well. A 2mg stress reducer can turn into a binge/blackout pretty quick. I have no idea how people can stay on a stable dose of this stuff.

  8. A few hours ago I ate about 5 gramms of dried fly agaric. No intereference with HPPD-Sypmptoms so far, but this isn't even with psilocybin with me (it gets worse after a couple of days and not imediately^^)

Right now I feel absoluetly calm and relaxed and in peace with the world and all its inhabitants.

and some time before today I felt as if flying when closing my eyes.

I know I should avoid tripping because of HPPD, but I still love those feelings and everything.

I stopped all drugs for more than a year and a half, but that had to effect on my HPPd so I think tripping is okay as well, even if it get really nasty from time to time, until now everyhing went better again.

Update: Now, after about 2 days, I still feel calm when I look inside of me. There is no trouble like before, everything seems to work. But there is some strange effect too: I am easily getting into arguments with people. There is a wish to discuss and humiliate. Especially with my boyfriend. I really hope he doesn't really hate me now... A long time I can keep those argumenting-ambitions down, but it doesn't work always...

If you read this, what I don't think actually, please forgive me!

How's it been after another week and a half? Did the fly agarics affects your visuals at all?

  9. Ive been smoking pretty regularly in the past 6 or 7 months too. Multiple times a week lately. I have noticed an increase in symptoms lately, but im not sure if thats also because of other drug use (opiates, alcohol, speed, rebound visual increase after benzos are out of my system). Planning on quitting again in about a week when my spring break is over haha. Opiates and benzos only ever make my visuals better though, so ill probably continue wih the infrequent use of those. Also, i cant smoke more than a bowl of good pot without the assistance of alcohol or benzos to neutralize the anxiety. My visuals just stopped bothering me though, so i usually enjoy myself.

  10. I contracted hppd while taking amoxicilin, however i took it again for a whole month without any ill affects. Im about to take it again in the form of augmentin for 10 days for an ear infection. Im sure there wont be any problem. I remember reading a thread started by merkan quite a while ago about a flare up while taking antibiotics. Ill have to dig it back up and see what he was taking.

  11. I'm just wondering. what are your habits? I use pretty sparingly, usually go once a week taking 2-5mg of klonopin. sometimes I'll go a little overboard and take like 9-12mg (spread out over the day lol) but that just warrants a longer rest period. Tolerance builds really really fast for me, I can't even imagine how fast it builds for those that take it everyday.

  12. I am going to start a treatment with Keppra 500mg once every night. I will report the side effects I experience as time passes.

good luck man! I feel really bad for you, but at least it sounds like you had some fun before HPPD set in haha. to get back to a normal sleep schedule, you need to start waking up earlier, having breakfast right when you wake up, having dinner at a set time (a couple hours before when you want to get some sleep) and maybe even fitting in some physical activity ~3 hours or so before bedtime. the trick is to get your body's cyrcadium rythm to change. Stuff like eating breafast right when you wake up when adjusting to a new schedule will adjust your body better to setting that particular time as wake up time. uh did that make sense?

I know HPPD sucks, but it sounds like you're on the right track. I mean there's nothing wrong with playing videogames, just don't stare at a really bright screen fr 8hrs haha. It sounds like you can kick this, good luck!

  13. I've read that one of the best way to remember something like that is to go back to the room where you had the original idea. If you're sitting in bed, and you want to get a soda, but you forget about the soda when you walk to the kitchen, go back to bed and see if it comes back.

  14. At the risk of sounding like a total booze hound, I have to ask. Can you dring any alcohol while taking this medication. Would a couple of drinks be okay? Does it depend on the dosage you are taking? Would it be okay to drink if you skipped the meds on that day? Any advice welcomed.

    1.yes

    2.yes

3.yes (if you take 1 mg with a couple beers, you'll have fun. If you take 4 mg with some shots then find a couch cause you're about to blackout lol)

    4.yes

I don't get the big stigma against drinking and benzing. If you're responsible about it then there's nothing to worry about. I think they synergize eachother, but the alcohol does kind of overpower the clonazepam. Just hide your pills if you're preparing to get really fucked up.

  15. there was a thread on here from a while back that was linking antibiotics to HPPD. I'm too lazy to find it but it should be somewhere around here lol. other than that I can't really help you, but I hope it turns out OK.

  16. I'd lay off the trippy chemicals if I were you haha. Before I got HPPD I had only tried 3 different drugs...now it's up to like 16 haha and the only ones that really did any permanent weird stuff to me were ritalin and dxm (and of course weed, duh). One time I drank some poppy seed tea and ate 1 or 2 mg of klonopin (don't try it without someone else around you) and then when I smoked some pot my visual snow got really cool. I remember it was the only time I ever actually enjoyed visual snow, it looked like a plasma ball.

Promethazin, Phenothiazine: worsened, More Light-brigthness, a spacey feeling from the HPPD but warm

    Is that stuff even psychoactive?

Also can you go more in depth about your kanna use?

  17. It is told that good Orange Bud let´s you hallucinate, but dont think it´s possible, even if you´re 100% sure you smoked weed, it at least was lazed with something, nowadays you cun put almost everthing onto the weed, from opioids to PCP, DMT or Salvia , i think the chance you got lazed weed and get HPPD is ways bigger then getting HPPD from normal weed. The differences of both are too big....

eh...most drugs are destroyed when directly exposed to flame (obviously there are exceptions, but im just saying), plus it really isn't as common as most people think for weed to be laced. A lot of people just seem to forget that weed is a hallucinogen, and some strains can be really psychedelic. Plus hash WILL FUCK YOU UP BIG TIME, so if you have a low tolerance and say, take a bong rip or two of hash then that can make you trip balls. Hell, if you have a low tolerance you can have a pretty trippy experience from just normal weed too.

I think my HPPD is a result of two bad trips I had back to back. I really feel like the extremem negativity of the experiences had something to do with how long lasting my HPPD has been. I feel like if I had tripped the same number of times in all and never had a bad trip then my HPPD would have been much less severe. Aside from the HPPD I think the DP/DR that I have is 100% a result of how negative my trips were. They left with a lof of weird anxiety that I think led to the DP.

i think it has something to do with subconcious resistance to experience. Bit like 3rdtour says. I think this is how you get ptsd too. If you are able to give up control and still feel grounded then maybe you wont get hppd. I think head pressure may be a symptom of internalising control. Dunno if i'm making much sense.

I don't think there's any question about it that hppd and some form of ptsd are connected, I mean it's no coincidence that I'd say 95%+ of the members here who got HPPD from hallucinogens also had a bad trip.

Sometimes I think I got it for being a shitty person. Ive done a lot of shitty things to good people, just because of my drug lust. I spent High School high on cocaine and pills. I treated LSD and other hallucinogens like a good time, and didn't respect them. I smoked a million different kinds of spice. The thing that bothers me most though, is that right before I got it I promised myself I would quit smoking pot. I broke my own promise and ended up with it a few days later. So, sometimes I think I deserve it.

nah man now don't say that. Yeah, you did take it too far with drugs but that's the only reason you got HPPD, not cause of karma. At least hppd made you get your shit together so you're not some junkie living to get high anymore. I hope you've been able to mend your regrets, too.

Also, I know that exact feeling of the promise-to-yourself thing. On my last trip I swore off hallucinogens but lo and behold me and a buddy split a tab when we were coming down. I probably would've got HPPD either way, but still...

(damn guys sorry about the double post/wall of text, I guess it happens when you haven't been on the board for a while haha)

  18. Smoked some of the dankest weed I've ever seen when the trip was peaking; shit made me trip my face off. At first it was the coolest thing in the world, but then my mind lunged me into a paranoid, psychedelic hell. I'll never forget how I thought "Hm maybe if I close my eyes I won't see this shit anymore" WRONG that just made it worse. Everything was fractalling really weird like. At least I had my music and a great friend help me get through it. After that trip i developed pre-hppd, saw circles in my vision but it went away after 2 or 3 days. A week later I dropped a couple tabs again (because I'm a dumbass) and woke up with full HPPD. shared a bowl later that night and some pretty crazy geometric pattern came up.

And now here I am. I love complaining about how unlucky and unfair HPPD is, but to be honest the handful of times I tripped were some of the best, incomparable days of my life. It's such a shame I can't do it again, nor will ever experience MDMA. Then there's pot, which just isn't fun anymore.
