  1. The headache thing is part of the normal induction phase with Lexapro.  You should give it another week.

As far as making your visual symptoms worse... it may make them worse while being on the med.  You have to balance out the benefits with the increased symptoms.  You should be noticing a difference in your mood after 2 weeks with Lexapro, and a major difference within a month.

I maintained on Lexapro for 15 years or so... I then developed some problems with it. I still take a low dose. PM me if you have any questions as I'm not on a whole lot.

The headache I got is more like a pressure behind my eyes.

I am sure it's HPPD related because I had the same eye pressure behind my eyes when I was using a lot of drugs. (The moment when my HPPD symptoms increased a lot)

Did your symptoms ''level out'' at any time, or did they only increase all the 15 years you're using this medicine?

    I've Pmed you!

  2. Is this the first SSRI you have tried?

    Have you used other meds?

How is this med on your anxiety (the reason you are taking it)?  Since it makes your visuals worse, perhaps the opposite type of med.  There is only one SSRE on the market and it is outside the USA.  If outside USA, you could check on it.  Otherwise, see if you can get something that increases dopamine.

I've tried Effexor a month ago for 3 days.

I quited it because my hppd symptoms were getting worser and Escitalopram seemed a better alternative.

I'm using this medicine because of my social aniexity. Going to start following therapy soon.

What is the SSRE medicine called?

And I was thinking about welbutrin but it's more effective for people who are suffering from depressions and luckily that's not my case. And I've heard that welbutrin makes socialy aniexity worser.

  3. Hi there,

I'm taking Escitalopram 10 mg's a day for for my social anxiety since a week now.

Since the first day of using this medicine I noticed increasing in my hppd sympoms: Light sensitivy (Starbursts), after images, ghosting, visual snow, and a terrible pressure behind my eyes. Unfortunately aspirins doesn't work

    1. Will this ever ''level out'' or will these symptoms only increase as long as I keep taking Escitalopram?

    2. Is there anything to do against this eye pressure? Maybe something like eye muscle relaxers will work?

I hope someone can give me some more information!

  4. Is this keppra solving your social anxiety directly? Or is it solving your social aniexity by reducing your hppd symptoms so you're more fomfortable so that results in less aniexity?

I'm asking this because my hppd isn't disturbing me at all.

So if the keppra reduces your hppd symptoms and if that's the reason that your social aniexity is getting reduced it probably don't work for me

    Your suggestion?

  5. Thanks for the information so far!

I've did some research about the medicine welbutrin and indeed it gives you a lot of energy, hapiness and reduces your depression a lot.

But I've also heard a lot of people saying that this medicine doesn't do anything for social aniexity. I even heard people saying that in some cases the welbutrin makes the social aniexity worser.. (I've read it on social anxiety forum)

Maybe its an idea  to combinate this medicine with keppra?

What do you think about this?

  6. Dear readers,

First of all; I'm not going to start benzos yet because it's not worth it for me at this moment

Is there any medicine or a combination of medicines availble to treat social anxiety without increasing my hppd symtpoms?

I've heard that wellbutrin makes anxiety worser.

So any experiences would be great!

I'd like to see someone that can help me out because I'm going to the familiy doctor tomorrow and I'd like to have my answer ready on which medicine(s) I want to start on.

  7. You should avoid SSRI's and SNRI's. There are none that are HPPD compatible.

Instead see if you can get Wellbutrin (bupropion). It's an DNRI antidepressant, works very well with HPPD, aside from the first month of setting in which can be harsh. It does not affect serotonin at all, which is good because HPPD is a bit caused by a serotonin management dysfunction (overcharge).

Besides, it contributes to weight loss and smoking cessation!

It is a substituted amphetamine, but no worries, it's not a controlled substance and is not a bit addictive.

Go for the extended release form (Wellbutrin XR or Voxra).

First of all thanks for your reply!

Does this welbutrin also work for social anxiety?

Does a SSRI and a DNRI antidepressant give me the same effect on how I feel since they're both antidepressants?

  8. Dear readers,

I am suffering from HPPD for around 3 years now.

Some time ago I've quited drugs for 4 months and luckily for me I noticed that my HPPD symptoms were getting reduced.

The HPPD was almost gone for me

3 weeks ago I used MDMA, amfetamine and 2 other RC at a festival. I noticed that my HPPD symptoms were getting worser after a few days. But it wasn't that bad at all.

    Now this is the other part of my story;

Last few months I've noticed that I'm suffering from social anxiety and a mild depression, so I've decided to go to my family docter and she described me Efexor; 37,5 mg a day.

Next day after I used this Efexor my HPPD symptoms were getting a lot worser. (Visual snow, sensitive for lights, double vision)

My HPPD symptoms were like 3 times stronger compared to the HPPD symptoms I got from the drugs I used at the festival

Unfortunately I don't know if this HPPD increase is still from the drugs I used at the festival, or from the Efexor..

After 3 days of being on Efexor I decided to quit with this medicine to avoid making my HPPD permanent.

Now I really want to know your experiences with SSRI's that wont increase my hppd symptoms and that works well for social anxiety and depressions.

I don't really care if the medicine will make my HPPD better, just aslong it doens't make my HPPD worse it's ok.

I would love to see some people who could help me out!
