Effexor made my heart race so fast, sweating, very anxious, and my visuals were a lot worse. I couldn't stand it.

Has anyone out there ever tried this med? My neurologist suggested it to me for concussion like symptoms. He says it improves cognitive healing.

Update: I finally got to a psychiatrist who has heard of this condition and diagnosed me with HPPD.
-
I'm aware the doctors love to push antidepressants and other junk that does not work. I've been prescribed tons of different meds that never worked. Effexor was the worst I had taken. Benzos helped with panic attacks but that's pretty much the best help I've had

He is right though it does seem to cause vivid dreams but other than that i had no complaints.

Melatonin is what you want. I can almost guarantee it will work.

I've one drug can change the brain in this way then there has to be an antidote.

We need to find something that can correct all this imbalance in our brains! I can't go through the rest of my life like this. I missed out on so much. The first year of this condition I felt like nobody and nothing was real. I felt like I didn't love my family cause they weren't real. Like I didn't recognize them. That was the worst part hands down. I've never been very religious but I pray myself to sleep every night. I'd do anything to make this go away.

Secretsun thanks for the reply. It's great to have someone else to talk to about all this. Can you tell me more about the Lamictal

Has anyone had any success treating their visual disturbances with any medication?

Oh and I'm currently taking 150mg of sertraline and 2mgs of klonopin. They help some aspects of my Hppd but not visuals or DP.

I'm also new. There seems to be a lot of knowledge on here. I hope you find your answers. I have read on many sights risperidone Might Exacerbate Your Visuals. As for sertraline, I have been on 150 mgs for about 8 years, and it seems to reduce anxiety and DR. Although it has done nothing for my visuals.

My name is Michael. I'm 29 and I'm from Pittsburgh pa. I've been experiencing panic attacks, DP, DR, trails, after images (positive and negative), visual snow, flashing light, and a couple more symptoms since I was 16. I had taken LSD about 5 times. The last time was horrific. I woke up the next morning feeling normal. For the next couple weeks I was ok except when I smoked weed. After about 3 weeks all of the above symptoms set in permanently. It's been 13 years and many medications. I've been dismissed by doctors that look at me like I'm crazy when I tell them what I experience and why I experience it. I need help. I need friends that understand what I'm feeling. I was so happy to find this site. I look forward to hearing from you all.

The more I read it seems that antidepressants are counterproductive. I'm tapering of Zoloft as we speak. Theoretically ssris work just like lsd by increasing serotonin in the synapse.
