Jim Posted December 18, 2024 Report Posted December 18, 2024 I’m in a really bad place right now and need help or just see your opinions. so my visuals have been ok for the past 3 years and tracers kinda steadily increasing for 2.4 years and then settling. The tracers started to go away slightly to the point I couldn’t see them on cars, road signs or trees smearing when in a car or walls trailing out as I walk past them. i got on lamictal/ lamotrigine about 3 months ago and im up at 100mg. Every increase of dosage i got a flare up of symptoms that settled as I got used to the meds. Once in between 75 and 100mg the tracers started to come back and this was probably 3.5/4 weeks ago and have streadily increased in intensity to what they are now. I don’t know what to do. I don’t think it’s the lamotrigine is this just a flare up and will go down or should I be really concerned. thanks Jim
Jay1 Posted December 18, 2024 Report Posted December 18, 2024 Why don't you think it's the lamotrigine? Sounds like the most likely thing. Is it even doing anything positive for you? If not, just come off it (with your doctor's advice, of course). Anything else changed in your life? Flair ups generally come from a change. Hope things get better, Jay
Jim Posted December 18, 2024 Author Report Posted December 18, 2024 Do you think I should drop in dosage to say 75mg? I felt quite good on that. my sleep hasn’t been great but it hasn’t been bad. It’s just been a steady increase and I’m not sure what it could be. I’ve started the gym pretty intensely as well so I’m not sure if that’s a factor. I’m really worried about this thanks Jamie
Jay1 Posted December 19, 2024 Report Posted December 19, 2024 Please speak to your doctor about all this... No one on a forum should be advising you on dosage. I do get slight increase in symptoms after exercise, but it goes away quickly, maybe an hour or so after the gym, max. Are you taking any work out supplements?

Im going to book an appointment today and discuss this. I’ve exercised for years and not had this issue. I now actually think it’s the lamotrigine. It’s only been 3 months on it so I hope I haven’t messed my brain permanently. Have you seen medication worsening stay forever? Im Worried
Jim Posted December 19, 2024 Author Report Posted December 19, 2024 Also was taking creatine and collagen peptide protien, but I stopped just incase. Also B2, magnesium citrate and CoQ10

yarkadin Posted December 20, 2024 Report Posted December 20, 2024 Jim, I'm going through a similar thing myself for the last few months. It started for me in the early days of November and I've been busting my head understanding what has happened. I have gone through a very stressful period and also I've started taking Klonopin in uneven doses. I'm going to write a separate post about my Klonopin nightmare. I hate to write about it but I feel I should... so everyone knows what occurred... I will just add that many factors can affect this spike... it can even be your diet. I have been so paranoid lately that I stopped eating excessively sugary foods... also MSG and food additives. Our condition has some similarity to migraine aura and epilepsy so you can research what triggers people with those conditions. Barometer and temperature changes also have an impact on us. Review carefully what you are eating and if any lifestyle changes have occurred since this started - assuming the Lamictal is not causing your problem... which is possible.
