Can cold medicines like sudafed (pseudoephedrine) and phenylephrine make hppd permanently worse?

I've seen alot of talk about them on this forum and some people say they're fine to take and just worsen effects in the short term whereas other people say it has worsened their hppd

Just wanted to get a few more opinions - if you've taken cold medicines containing either of these 2 ingredients have you been fine afterwards or have they had a long term effect on your hppd?

My only symptom is mild visuals and not brain fog or dp/dr

I have had week long spikes after using certain cold meds in the UK ("Night Nurse" iirc)... I imagine the potential for a much longer/permanent increase are there

I just researched it. The daytime formula of "night nurse" definitely does contain pseudoephedrine

I have actively avoided anything with pseudoephedrine... The night nurse had this:

Each 20 ml dose contains: Paracetamol 1000mg, Promethazine Hydrochloride 20mg, Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide 15mg ethanol (alcohol) 18% v/v, sodium and glucose.

Not sure which was the culprit for my spike.

How comes you're avoiding it?
