Massive sensitivity to sugar

Recommended Posts

Hello,

i suffer from HPPD, head pressure, fatigue, erectile dysfunction and DR since 10 years. i experience strong symptoms. it partially became better, but since 5 years it´s status quo.
aditionally, i react extremly sensitive to sugar, caffeine, nicotine, psychoactive substances etc. Probably even more than other HPPDers. E.g. when i eat sugar (let it be only 1 g) I instantly get extremely awake, for like 20 minutes and then fall back into a deep fatigue, intensifing my head pressure, visuals and so on.

Anyone has the same symptom? If so, i´d like to get into contact with you.

I have a sensitivity to sugar but it’s really only when I eat a lot of it all at once. Like a sugar binge! I feel sluggish and gross, and my HPPD symptoms are definitely worse the following day.

Quite interesting... I never noticed this in myself but it could be happening.  Does anyone with a chemistry background have anything to share on how sugar may have some impact on HPPD?  I do tend to eat a lot of sugary crap lately.  If cutting on sugar helps with HPPD it's a double-win, since too much sugar also leads to weight gain and other problems.

I told a therapist about my terrible cravings for sugar and she said something like, “alcohol has sugar in it.” I used to binge drink but I haven’t drunk alcohol in 7 years. But anyway, idk if she was sayin’ it but not sayin’ it that I was craving alcohol and replacing it with sugar?
