James3524
I’ve been doing some reading on tinnitus, it’s neurological relationship with HPPD/VSS, and how autophagy has been proposed as a possible healing mechanism by some research scientists. One way to induce autophagy is by fasting, particularly by abstaining from all caloric intake and artificial sweeteners. My longest fast so far has been 120 hours (five days). During this period, I observed a noticeable reduction in depersonalization/derealization (DP/DR) symptoms, significant mood improvement—akin to a 'runner’s high' that lasted throughout the day—and a marked decrease in brain fog. It felt like IQ was raised by a standard deviation! I don’t expect drastic changes in my HPPD symptoms, I remain somewhat optimistic. I will be consuming only 1-2 small cups of black coffee daily, along with a water mixture of Himalayan pink salt, No-Salt (potassium chloride), and food-grade Epsom salts. These supplements are crucial during extended fasts to prevent a dangerous condition known as refeeding syndrome. Refeeding syndrome can occur when someone, after a prolonged period of electrolyte depletion, resumes eating, which can cause severe imbalances in electrolyte levels that can be potentially fatal. This risk can be largely mitigated with adequate electrolyte intake throughout your entire fast. If you are thinking about fasting, please do some research about the possible risks of fasting and the proper electrolyte intake for your body size and lifestyle. I will update on the 16th of August, take care! I’m not sure why all of this is in bold, nothing seems to be working to fix it.

The longest I lasted was like 76 hours and I did a pure water fast. I only drank water and mineral water for 76 hours. I also did it for 48 hours another time and 56 hours another time. It definitely felt like it improved me but it did nothing in the long-term.

It definitely felt like it improved me but it did nothing in the long-term. After the first 3-4 days, once your body is in ketosis, it’s pretty easy and all physical hunger is pretty much gone except for some occasional mental cravings. I don’t think mineral water has nearly enough electrolytes, so I think that is probably why you had a hard time. Here is the electrolyte recipe I use 1 teaspoon: Potassium Chloride (No-Salt, a salt substitute) 1 Teaspoon: Sodium Bicarbonate (Baking Soda) 1/2 Teaspoon: Sodium Chloride (Himalayan Pink Salt) 1/2 Teaspoon: Magnesium Sulphate (food grade epsom salt) Then put this mixture into 2 liters of water and drink throughout the day. I use this water bottle to make it easy as it’s 2L: https://a.co/d/6uDFmn8 Make sure not to drink it too fast as it can cause diabolical diarrhea. Are you still holding on? @yarkadin Regrettably, I have once again found myself with an addiction to nicotine ZYN pouches, which I am now trying to quit prior to starting my fast. I've been told that the artificial flavorings in these pouches may elicit an insulin response, thereby obstructing autophagy—a process I intend to enhance through fasting. I hope to start the fast within the next three weeks, and will provide some updates on my progress and results.
