New Nasal Spray Drug for Anxiety Disorders May Be Beneficial for Managing HPPD Symptoms

Recommended Posts

Fasedienol is an investigational drug being developed by Vistagen Therapeutics for the treatment of anxiety disorders, primarily social anxiety disorder (SAD).

About:

  • Mechanism of action: It's a pherine nasal spray that works differently from traditional anti-anxiety medications. It targets specific receptors in the nose, affecting brain regions related to anxiety.

  • Potential benefits: Fasedienol is being studied for its rapid onset and short duration of action, which could be advantageous for managing acute anxiety symptoms.

  • Clinical trials: It's currently in Phase 3 clinical trials for SAD, with positive results reported so far.

  • Other potential uses: Research is also exploring its potential for treating generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

  • As fasedienol is very closely related structurally to androstadienol, it might be converted into androstenol similarly and hence potentiation of the GABAA receptor could contribute to its mechanism of action
