jimmyb84
Missjess has made the trip over to brazil to seek treatment for dp/dr and hppd from a healer. I would personally like to wish her the very best and admire her determination and courage. Can everyone please support her over the next few months as she will be doing it extremely tough. All the best jess. Jimmy b

Guest
I´m glad we can keep an open mind to alternative remedies! Just discern for yourself what you believe in, that´s important. My buddy said he could do exorcism on me but he´s lost it is the rumor...
chrismo
I heard there's a magic duck in Benin that can cure all visual disorders. It will only cost a few thousand. Please offer me prayers and support as I embark on this gutsy journey.

hppd24years
Chris u do have a point in that regard but if some peeps want to believe in Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny try not to be so condescending towards them directly. I remember as a kid when I lost my tooth the next morning there was money under my pillow.. Was it the tooth fairy or my parents?? regardless there was a little pot of gold under my pillow.. Peeps who believe stay strong focused because u will prevail against all odds as well as good experiences..

Peeps who believe stay strong focused because u will prevail against all odds as well as good experiences.. You only lost a tooth. You didn't have to cough up money and move to another country only to later find out that the money under your pillow was made of bullshit. I don't mind someone doing this, by the way- people can pursue whatever nonense they desire. Rather, it's the cheering and encouragement for such lunacy that I find enraging. It could lead someone whose critical faculties aren't up to much to waste money they don't have in a similar vein- in the same way people visit witch doctors to cure their cancer. At best a venture like this should be met with a raised eyebrow.
jimmyb84
Chris, regardless of your believes you should support the fellow sufferer. People will do what they feel is right for them in order to ease their pain or support recovery. Negative comments or opinions have no place here and what treatments someone decides to spend their money on is entirely none of anyone's business. Correct me if I'm wrong... but it looks to me as if you're smoking a cigaret in your avatar????? It's nice to see you're spending your money on things that support good health and recovery....! Practice what you preach. Good day :-)
StateOfRegret
Isn't that Christopher Hitchens in the photo? Famous atheist (among other things). My take on it is pretty simple, perhaps naive: recovery is about feeling good. Whatever may give you a push in the right direction is good, even if it could be placebo. I deny that my opinions are negative, on the contrary. Perhaps my comments were but that's another matter. I will support any member here in any way I can but I will not indulge flim flam such as this.

WuWei
I can see both sides of the argument but I would think a little sensitivity is in order when dealing with this stuff... I'd do just about anything to live a normal life again.

StateOfRegret
Chris; while I fundamentally agree with your point, your posts often remind me of a scene in South Park, where a guy (from the future) says something like "Thank you, Richard Dawkins, for teaching us that it's not enough to be right, you also have to be a dick about it!" Jay1
Let's just have this thread to support this person in their journey. If you want to have a debate about the rights and wrongs of alternative medicine, start your own thread. The sniping and bickering is just pointless.
