About half a year ago I experienced an extremely minor case of what I think could be HPPD. I took 4 hits of LSD as well as 150 mg MDMA and during the peak inhaled some nitrous oxide, all from about midnight to noon (so I missed a night of sleep). None are considered dangerous combinations, but either way, I had the worst hangover ever for about 4 days following. 4 days is normal for some, but not for me. Usually what would happen is I would just feel really tired and apathetic the next day, then be back after 2 days. And what makes me feel like it may have been some form of HPPD is that I was experiencing some of the HPPD type symptoms during the 4 days. It felt like I'd missed about 10 nights of sleep in a row, because I felt extremely tired and dizzy.

Does this sound possibly like HPPD?

And this leads me to my next question. Is it safe to do any MDMA or specifically MDA? Or are these known to trigger another bout of HPPD? I haven't touched any drugs other than marijuana and cocaine since the LSD/MDMA/N2O experience.

Without visuals I don't think that it can be considered HPPD but it sounds like your body didn't react well to those drugs and you should probably be very careful. I don't think its worth the risk for you but you probably won't get HPPD, however if you do take drugs and get HPPD you will regret it forever.
