  1. When I first got hppd I abstained from everything for roughly six months, and from weed til the 9 month mark. Then I gradually began to smoke it again. At first I’d take small puffs out of a spliff some friends would be smoking. Then after a month or two doing it, I began smoking it more. I now vape (healthier) extracts occasionally. Sometimes I do it everyday for a week, sometimes I abstain for a couple weeks and then do it again. At first my visual symptoms flared up, but I kept abstaining until they were back to baseline and smoking again. Idk if it helped but I’m on a ton of omega 3 every day. for me, weed has little to no effect on my visual symptoms 1.5 years into hppd. Sometimes I wonder if I even really have it anymore. If you’re going to start weed again, I’d say be flexible with it. Start small and work your way up according to your body’s responses. Most of all, have fun doing it. Smoke a bit while drunk with your mates. Like a few puffs. You don’t even have to get high at first. I didn’t. You’re not a horrible person for trying to have some fun. If it doesn’t work out, just quit it for good. I personality would avoid smoking a lot at first because you’ll most likely be stressing over visual symptoms anyways and that’ll make you perceive them even more.
  2. Just adding I have very mild hppd, almost unnoticeable even today when I look for symptoms
  3. You are correct, jay, but dosage is also important when understanding these things. I went ahead and took it as prescribed yesterday, noting no effect on visual symptoms during the day and I’d say 1-5% increase this morning, similar to what I would have after a night drinking. In my opinion you can take this drug if necessary, but you should moderate it. Won’t be taking it every day that’s for sure.
  4. Hey guys, I was recently prescribed vyvanse for adhd/weight loss support and am kind of on the fence about it. My symptoms are mostly gone but i don’t know if taking this stimulant would have an effect on them. I feel like taking prescribed medication isn’t the same as recreational use and that I don’t want to be afraid of these things anymore. I’ve read some stories here of people developing worse hppd after certain substances. What were they? Did it happen shortly after the initial onset of symptoms or after a long time of abstinence? Has anyone here taken vyvanse after the onset of symptoms?
  5. Hey guys, it’s been about six months since the onset of my symptoms, and for the last month or so, I’ve noticed a great reduction of my vs and stuff. actually, even when I actively try to see the visuals, I can’t. My emotional symptoms were very mild from the start, and I was completely sober til about the 3 month mark, when I Noticed they disappeared completely. Then I began drinking alcohol again (in moderate doses). And nicotine (vaping) I never restricted caffeine that much. Slowly, things got better after that. I feel like I’m not out of the woods yet so I plan on staying sober from weed (the only other drug I’d do after this) for god knows how long. Maybe forever. But I’m glad things are getting better. just wanted to let y’all know it can get better. What helped me the most was getting a hobby and focusing hard on it most days of quarantine. Also I’m on keto (for fitness reasons). Be careful with going on this website... lots of negativity in the posts, also stay sober until you feel like you’ve improved.
  6. Hey man, thanks for the reply, love your posts here. I will definitely go easy on the alcohol as I have read such cases here before, my plan is to pretty much increase dosage gradually over a long period of time. About weed, maybe you’re right, but I don’t know. A good friend of mine has had hppd for quite a while now and he smokes it just fine, I think it’s more of a case by case thing
  7. Hey guys, just another new person here I’ve developed mild HPPD symptoms after binging mdma roughly 4 months ago. It doesn’t really bother me that much, I can still read and preform tasks that demand some degree of concentration just fine, and as most of the OGs suggest, I’ve stayed sober for some time after developing the initial stuff. I don’t feel like I have increased anxiety from this, or dp/dr. I’ve always been somewhat depressed and relied on weed and alcohol to keep me company when I felt down, so I’ve also been dealing with that now. It’s been rough... but manageable. just this week I decided to start drinking again. Had very little yesterday and honestly I don’t think it had any effect on my visuals at all, which is good. I can do caffeine just fine also. Any amount pretty much. those of you who drink, do you usually stick to beer? Also, I do plan on trying weed again at some point in the future... probably 1.5 years into recovery or whenever I feel like it after that mark. im 24. Symptoms are some degree of negative images and VS (some degree of it... little particles that dart across my visual field from time to time)
