  1. 2015 took a dodgy pill, saw insects everywhere and it was constant until I came down. I kept looking at the wall to see if the insects had gone the next day and they were just black little dots on the wall. that’s when I googled HPPD. I do think I have it but a minor version compared to some here but it no longer bothers me. I get anxious from time to Tim and I flare up but i always come back down sometimes my HPPD makes me see weird shit and I’m just like wtf. It doesn’t bother me anymore - I recommend citilopram as an ssri. I know people say it makes it worse but it helped me massively. It’s not the visuals that bother people, it’s the anxiety it causes. You need to just accept you have it, don’t do psychedelics or smoke weed and you might recover from the visual stuff - but you should focus on sorting your anxiety out first. Without anxiety there is no HPPD!
  2. I’m struggling to type this so sorry for spelling errors - it’s taken me like an hour to draft it. Today I took 1500mg of Pregabalin and 10mg of clonazepam. Over the course of the day I was so fucked and I still am. I I was probably disassociated at some point, I had no anxiety and an MDMA style high and mushroom style visuals. Words on my screen were moving, my living room suddenly grew grass and turned into a beautiful garden, only for me to look away and it be gone. That’s just one of many examples - I wasn’t hallucinating but there was a lot of visual disturbances. Has anyone else had mushroom style visuals on pregabalin? I was a bit freaked out at first but by the end I really enjoyed it. I was also tripping balls at this point. I have HPPD which might explain the visuals but was wondering if anyone else gets them! My visuals have returned to baseline level now. I was actually enjoying the visuals it reminded me of the good old days. HPPD no longer bothers me and interferes with my life so for those of you who have got it keep on pushing you’ll get there!
  3. Hi, is this drug safe for HPPD? is there a chance of it making symptoms worse or is it safe to take for us HPPDers?
  4. Thanks Jay. What did you find worked for anxiety relief other than benzos. Ideally I’d like to come off the benzos, I get nothing recreationally out of them anymore. I’m not addicted because I stick to once or twice a week but I’m aware it’s a slippery slope. I’ve tried propanol for when I’ve been anxious, minimal effect but stopped racing heart and clammy hands but does nothing for the other horrible feelings of anxiety.
  5. Just ordered some. What are peoples thoughts on it? I have been HPPD and been looking for drugs ofher than benzos, alcohol and opioids that won’t make their symptoms worse. Im someone who still wants to use drugs but is bored of alcohol and benzos and find it difficult to secure opioids. Someone suggested phenibut to me so I have ordered some to see what it’s like. What can I expect and what precautious should I take? And what are the recreational dosages and effects? I take benzos once or twice a week so have quite a high tolerance. Can I take benzos in between or will it make me go into withdrawal? Is this like a substitute for benzos or something to keep you going in meantime?
  6. Other than benzos, alcohol and opioids what other drugs can people do with HPPD that won’t make their symptoms worse. Im someone who still wants to use drugs but is bored of alcohol and benzos and find it difficult to secure opioids. By the way, weed is a no go - last time I did weed I tripped like I was on acid. Maybe I could try other Benzos but my tolerance is quite high now so don’t feel em as much. I’m not dependant cos it’s always been once a week sometimes twice max but can’t really feel the difference between Xanax, clonazepam and diazepam anymore - all just feels same. Haven’t tried Dihydrocodeine yet but guess that would be my next opioid option as I can now take about 400mg of codeine and only get slight euphoria. Tramadol doesn’t effect me and gives me scary CEVs. Man I miss the pre hppd days when I could do coke, mdma, ket, shrooms etc. any hppd-safe alternate suggestions welcome.
  7. Hi guys, What rec drugs do you find are safe to take with HPPD? For me I find benzos, codeine, alcohol and coke as fine but weed and psychadelics exbarate symptoms. Anyone got any other ones they find safe? Bit bored of doing the same ones
  8. Treat your anxiety is the best way to treat your HPPD. I have spent the last 5 or 6 years pretty much fine on top of things with my anxiety. When I go through a stressful situation or my anxiety flares up, I then notice visual disturbances more. I think a lot of what people suffer from is anxiety and being hyper aware of natural visual pphenomna as opposed to HPPD. Not that I'm doubting the existence of hppd - I just think some people who think they suffer from hppd actually just suffer from anxiety. I was one of them. When I'm not anxious at all, I can go days without noticing any visual disturbance. But when you are anxious and obsess over them you notice them more.
  9. I hope you're still alive mate. Citilaprom is perfectly fine. I went through 9 months of severe anxiety and wanting to die before I finally caved and tried citalopram. People say SSRIs make them worse but I don't believe that. They make your anxiety worse in the first few weeks then your body gets used to them and then you're good. I would say for the first 2 weeks of SSRIs I got worse anxiety wise but I persisted with them and after a few weeks my anxiety level decreased a lot. I noticed over time I had less and less bad days but on the whole now I am back to my old self. That was 6 years ago and for most of that time I've been fine, but before I was on SSRIs I was BAD. Alcohol is fine but dont do any other drugs. My set backs have been when I've smoked weed on the odd time and done coke the odd time. I daren't even touch any psychadelic. Stick to booze and you'll be alright.
  10. I just thought I would bump this up for anyone who needs to read it. When I'm not anxious at all, I can go days without noticing any visual disturbance.
  11. Ghosting/double vision is a symptom of eye fatigue. Does anyone think their ghosting/double vision could be due to eye strain from looking for visuals all the time? This was my problem at one point and I noticed a massive increase in double vision around text when I was straining my eyes the most. I was just thinking this information could potentially help someone and make them worry less about their symptoms.
  12. The OP has no symptoms of HPPD. He would probably be ok on SSRI's but that would be his decision to make.
  13. I don't think you have HPPD if visual snow is your only symptom. Everyone has visual snow, ask your family/friends etc to actually stop and look for it and they'll be able to see it. Difference is they'll be able to switch off from it because they're not anxious and don't see it as a threat, whereas you can't because you are anxious. Tinnitus can't really be a symptom of HPPD. How can something visual cause a ringing in your ears? Most likely the tinnitus is a result of the anxiety you're suffering, it's quite a common symptom of anxiety actually. I think a lot of people have mild tinnitus to an extent. I'd try get some therapy if I was you.
  14. Have you taken any benzos? Side effect of some benzos e.g. Valium is blurred/double vision.
  15. So I'm trying to help the guy by being positive and you're just making the guy feel worse by basically saying it's the end of his good life. Solid post. I think if there was less scaremongering and more positivity on these forums then a lot of people would improve over time. A lot of people on here just share how bad they are and how unhelpable they are, what sort of hope does that give to someone who is currently suffering but really does have a big chance of recovery? Im positive but I also like to think I'm being realistic. The anxious mind is capable of severe catastrophic thinking and a lot of people on this forum have that sort of thinking, which obviously makes anxiety worse for everyone. I don't mean to cause any offence at all, I completely understand how awful this is, but no one is ever going to get better with completely destructive ways of thinking.
  16. If you convince yourself you're getting worse then you will. It's a state of mind. You start looking for the symptoms more the more you're convinced they're getting worse and then they do get worse. I doubt the lions mane is making it worse honestly, there's a small chance but most people on here say it makes them better. It is more likely to be your medication but I think it's more likely your state of mind. When I was at my worst I was looking for visual snow all the time and that was my worst symptom, but then I started looking for after images and the visual snow seemed to improve but the after images got worse. It's all about what you pay attention to. I know fulwell. how hard it is to try and take your mind off it, I really do, but it's the best advice anyone could give you. Try get some therapy for your negative thoughts and live an interesting life by doing something you're engrossed in to try and take your mind off it. Remember it's not the visuals that are cause you harm, it's the reaction to the visuals.
  17. If it went away before there's a good chance it will go away again. In the mean time try to stay healthy and, I know it's easier said than done, but try not to let it beat you.
  18. Sorry to bring up an old thread but I think this post could he of help to some people. You are right LethargicAcid to an extent. For most people the visuals are just an annoyance, it's the anxiety and other mental symptoms that come along with HPPD that makes it debilitating, which is of course how these people react to the visuals. Those with severe HPPD who can't read, go out at night etc. is a different story, but those with mild HPPD it's purely down to how you react to the visuals. If you want to start getting better then you need to start reacting to visuals in a different way.
  19. Jay I selected the post button by accident, I've actually made another thread so could you delete this one and potentially read that one? I'm familiar with your posts and I think it's obvious you suffer from HPPD, all I'm saying is that a lot of people suffer from just an anxiety disorder and not actually HPPD.
  20. Well then you have HPPD, all I'm saying is that a lot of people don't and wouldn't still be getting visual distortions if they didn't go to Dr. Google.
  21. Talk to a doctor mate and your parents, be completely honest with both. They are there to help. You're suffering from some mental illnesses which can completely be treated, you won't be like this forever and one day you will look back on this and it will all be a distant memory.
  22. I forgot to mention. A lot of the other psychological symptoms people mention such as brain fog is a symptom of anxiety. It's quite a common one actually. Anxiety can cause a number of visual disturbances such as floaters (which again are a hell of a lot more likely to be anxiety as opposed to HPPD), as well as cognitive ones.
  23. First of all I'm not doubting the existence of HPPD, it is a real disorder and real people do suffer from it. What I am doubting however is the amount of people you come across when you scale the Internet who claim to have HPPD, when really they are just witnessing normal visual phenomenon. My experience of HPPD is, I'm sure, similar to a lot of other people's in a way that it wasn't anywhere near as bad until I started reading forums, including this one. I had a bad trip on MDMA with disturbing visuals, I saw bugs on every wall imaginable. The day after my only symptom was seeing dots on the wall moving in the corner of my vision. This is quite probably something I've had all my life but I've never spent all day staring at a wall so never noticed. Anyway I'm a naturally anxious person so I googled this and discovered HPPD. I searched for the symptoms and began actually looking for them myself, then I started noticing them. It started with the static (visual snow). Can we just be clear that I didn't notice this symptom until I read about the symptom and started looking for it. Everyone has visual snow ladies and gentleman, just some people notice it, and I'm pretty sure a lot of people on this forum only noticed it after they read the symptom list of HPPD. I've asked all my closest friends, all my family, some of whom who didn't even know I was suffering with anxiety from this, if they can see the snow, and they all said yes they can if they look for it but they've never noticed it before. Try it yourself. Anyway, other symptoms included starbursts. Again, everyone gets starbursts on car headlights. I'm not doubting people with HPPD have these to a greater extent, but everyone has them and I strongly believe people have just started looking for this, noticed it, and started getting anxious over it. The same goes for after images, the list goes on. What a lot of people are suffering from is a hyper awareness and anxiety. Why do you think Benzo's are the best treatment for most people with HPPD? Because the majority of people who think they have HPPD actually don't, they just have an anxiety disorder over the thought of having HPPD. The reason why a lot of people feel awful after alcohol is because you get rebound anxiety from alcohol, it's a known thing that people with depression/anxiety always feel worse after drinking when it wears off. When you're more anxious you look for the visuals more, so you notice them more. It's similar to when you're drunk, you don't think about the symptoms and they don't bother so you don't notice them. Some people have HPPD. People with constant tracers, after images of everything, blinding starbursts, shit getting bigger and smaller in your vision have HPPD. A lot of people just see natural visual phenonomon and put it down to HPPD. If a lot of you treat your anxiety about having HPPD and stop obsessing over the symptoms, I can guarantee your symptoms will diminish, because a lot of you have an anxiety disorder, not HPPD. I know this because I was the same.
  24. Ok I posted this by accident, can someone delete this while I repost
